If we order it, I'm afraid to see the price.

Though hurricanes are a problem, an island would be ideal. Maritime laws are quite different from normal ones ( though I'm not sure if they would affect us). Plus we would have our privacy. Hunting might not be perfect but big game hunting is not an option without horses anyway so an island would be nice.

Also I would like to point out that hurricanes are survivable. Although in the news and events lately there have bee level five hurricanes, if our village is inland I think we could survive a level 2 or even a 3 with preperation.

this is a pointless statement, you can hunt big game (by that I hope you mean deer, etc) without the use of horses very easily.

hurricanes would be a problem, but im sure if we research the location we can see the ferocity and strength of all the hurricanes in the area

I'm sorry, I should have rephrased that. Yes is is easy to hunt without a horse. However, if we are going to be a society where we use as many peices of the animal as possable, thereby honoring the animal for it's death the we need some way to take the whole animal back to camp. I would like to see anyone try and lift a big buck, let alone carry it for a long way back to the village. Now you could cut it up and run back and forth with it bit by bit, but that will take forever.

I agree about the first part, as I am a Gaian spiritualist I believe that you should honour anything you kill. although i do believe that there will be more than one on a hunt so you could sling it between 2 like in the movies when they have it slung under a stick

Price does not matter if we work hard and think positively. ;D We will find a home, no matter how many zeros!

As to your reply Ikrana ( sorry don't have special keyboard working from iPod) yes we could do that but it would still be so heavy we would have to have three to five people to carry it. A small buck is usually around 300 pounds. If we had to walk two acres through dense forest we would have to take many breaks and even shift people. Now something like a wild pig is no problem. But a buck... Well I guess we could use your idea if we could cut a buck in half. Still I think that if we did get an island it wouldn't have any big game on it. Small game and fishing would be ideal.

Exactly. Part of the community spirit - just imagine the opportunity to say "I paid for this pebble!...Or was it this one... er..."

Well, if we want that island then community spirit needs to come up with a LOT of cash. I just got an email back and the asking price is 1,100,000,000 XFP, which comes out to about $116,027,044.98 USD, or 78.5399343 million British pounds.  :o

well that is just the asking price mind you. I'm sure we could knock one or two million off that... ::)

y didnt u say that in the first place 1 or 2 million off makes the price a little more doable for us lol  ;D ;D

Hey, if I get filthy rich overnight, I'll buy it. ( The likelyhood that it will ever happen: 116,027,044.98 to 1 ^_^) Well if we all pitch in over four years we could maybe get a fraction of that. I've been looking all over the internet and I've found that most islands are very pricey. However, I will not give up the search.

Yes. Find more islands with really big hills without a fault near them.

Txalion

Well I found an island not very far off the coast of Austrailia, it's huge and it's decided into five lots but we can buy the whole thing for about 5.3 mill. It's a little over 600 acres. And it's tropical. Take a look.

Now I'm not sure about hurricanes or anything like that so I'll take a look and reaserch it but it seems like a possability. Comments?
