Choosing the location a different way prt. 1

I don't mean to keep saying this but I don't see the U.S. working out, it's not like it presents an ideal of climate or surroundings. I may be wrong but I was under the impression that most of the development has been in these most hospitable areas. Could we really find a sufficiently remote location that would support a hunter-gatherer society? Unfortunately I don't have experience with this.

The best idea would be to go some area, a forest like landscape, without the government knowing that we are there else we will have to pay bills, and thats just ridiculous.

I like the idea of having a river or lake or creek at the very least near by the location.  I'm a huge water fan and fish are a greeat food source.

Yeah but i do prefer a sort of stream over a lake since a stream is a little fresher because it ''moves'' if you know what i mean

true true, the US is a bit crazy, and with what our gov. is doing...mmmm could be a bit of a challenge.. but, anywho, back on topic, lol. forest/mountain area would definately be among the two best choices. like someone said, an abundance of streams and the like, forest, an abundance of food. idk about any of you, but (this sounds freaking rediculus but only way i could phrase it) the type of forest we are looking at would be nice to know. pine forests are a bad fire hazard, all the sap, needles, one stray ember, unbanked fire...and there goes the village. not to mention, deep layers of needles kinda kill the undergrowth.  hardwood, from what ive seen, do alot better with the berry bushes and the like. and some/most hardwood tree seeds are either medicinial, edible or both. not saying that evergreen type trees are competely undesirable, some types also have medicinail properties, its just that only evergreen or super heavy with evergreen..could cause a problem..this is from what ive seen though, and the places ive lived in the US or traveled to are a bit limited. im from Virginia originially. that area, even a bit more(ok lot more) inland from my home town (virginia beach) is very beautiful. the temp is usually, i want to say mild, but everyone's definiton of mild when it comes to climate is different. compared to some of the states though, it is nice. summers are not too killer, and neither are the winters.
