I thought we needed a thread specifically for posting suggestions  about location, shelter, and food. As to location, I'm thinking subtropics with some cliffs so we can use some form of the hangglider idea off the ikran thread. As to food, with enough territory and with being scarce and using every part, we could hunt and gather, but use everything u can from what u get. And as to shelter I believe that we could all come up with our own wrking designs that don't require much man-made materials, but one thing we all agree on is: Tree. Ina tree. If we had a place with trees tyhe size of some in rainforests we could create our own " hometrees". And when it comes to meds, I'm sure there's more herbalists in this tribe besides me. However if I could get BGT working we would then hve light for night hunting and would require much less fire, which would make us use less materials....I'm gonna stop there. But you get the concept. This is for suggesstions for our neccessities.

Hi, palulukanmoctow, wlecome to the tribe board!

Your enthusiasm is commended - I notice a large number of threads with your name on 'em!

But, please, slow down. Many of the topics you have mentioned here already have their own threads, and are being dealt with.
Check out the other sub-boards - most of them are covered, and your help is invaluable.

To summarise!
Location: Not sorted. Our biggest problem is immigration - this kind of situation has never been put forward into normal border control policies, and before we start choosing a good place we need to find a country that will let us in!

Buildings/Shelter: A bit of a debate really, some want to build their own, some are keen on pre-fabricated structures, but the general consensus is that everyone to their own.

BGT/Fire: I think you could be overestimating our impact. Fires, if correctly made, are not a huge drain on resources - dead wood fallen from trees works best, chopping wood only in emergencies. As for light, if the BGT does not work in time, the natural light of the moon and stars should help us!

Hang-glider ikran: Right, I don't know on this one. I do not hang-glide personally, but I am sure the danger levels are high and the last thing we want is a major injury. If support is enough, maybe - but I am not so keen.

Hopefully this helps - but it just shows, there is a weekly update thread on here that HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED IN A WHILE! ANd he needs to get back to that to avoid future confusion.

If done responsibly hang gliding is no more dangerous than any other of the activities that we'll likely end up doing, like horseback riding or tree climbing. It's all about using your brain when you do it. :)

Good point. However, I do not believe our location choice should be utterly limited by hanggliding access - I hope this is not a problem...

Not at all.

Wow, this all sounds pretty cool, and I'm looking forward to trying to spend some time with the tribe when I'm able. I had a suggestion about the tribe itself. If you had a Na'vi basic sentence construction and pronounciation course at the tribe, then you would probably encourage more people to spend time there. It shows that you are willing to help the newer people to the language. I don't know if this has been covered in another thread, so sorry if it is.
On an unrelated note, I think hangliding is a great idea, but I agree that it shouldn't limit the location choice.

Hey Tavar, welcome!

This tribe was indeed inspired by the Na'Vi. We of course must never forget that - and running such courses would certainly appeal to the Na'Vi speaking community - well done!

But remember, this is not strictly Na'Vi only. The tribe itself will not be as they are, nor similar in any obvious tributary ways (simply for the sad sake of practicality...). Back when the tribe idea was first created, this topic was discussed - but no consensus was reached. The idea became that we would use Na'Vi for ceremonial occasions, or if people really wanted to.

It is good and heartening to see more suggestions - right now, we need to keep ourselves busy, so thank you Tavar!
