At the moment it will save a lot of time to focus on the tropics, although temperate regions are viable the tropics are by far the most popular. We want to be happy where we are not just survive, that doesn't necessarily mean choosing the closest/easiest location.

The aim is to narrow down what we want, we have found that the tropics are what the majority want so that's where we are looking now. If they fail totally then we move out to temperate climates (because they are 2nd most popular) but let's hope we have better luck than that :).

Researching every country is going to be a waste of time, if we know that there are some countries that we are NEVER going to be interested in there is no point wasting vaulabe time and resources on looking at them, rather focs as 'Eylan says on the countries in the area we want, that will save a lot of time compared to researching them all ;b I mean, I don't see the tribe in Afganistan... :v

But see, the research can be done 1 country at a time...
When a country doesn't work in 1 of any field, it goes off the list...
Eventually that'll have it down. You just had me realize the way it needs to be done.

Yea, it is a good aproach, I'm just saying that their are some places that we needn't be wasting time on researching as there is no way that we would consider them as viable possibilities so there is no reason to wast time on them. Like 'Eylan says, it is a lot easier to decide on a general area first, then focus on the countries within it ^^

Just to make this clear. Now that we have established a reasonably small target area (the tropics) we will be proceeding on a country-by-country basis similar to what you have said. To aid this I have suggested we establish what vegetation/biome we want.

We could assess each country individually but this places too much control in who is assessing each country and is more resource-intensive. It is much fairer if we vote on a number of ideal conditions (this is climate/vegetation/etc.) and use these to evaluate each country, they also eliminate countries en-masse (particularly climate) and so save time.

Please don't try to deviate from how we have been conducting our research, it is only going to slow progress, what we need now is commitment as opposed to trepidation, going back to the beginning isn't going to help now. I am certain we will have a location soon.

everybody, vote for the best tropical country, that would be best for a location for the real life na'vi tribe :D :D :D

Ok, now I've researched some countries quite a lot, while I know next to nothing about countries in South-east Asia for example. But I'll say what I think.

Argentina - Rather in the subtropical and temperate zone than tropical, but ok. I don't have a lot against Argentina, but then again it has not been in my in-depth research. It's just a little too far south and wet in my opinion. Same with Chile.
Chile - Again, Chile is subtropical (desert) and temperate (forests). The northern half of the country is basically desert, while the southern, temperate zone, is forested and one of the rainiest places in the world (?). Also, while Chile is similar to european countries when it comes to health, abortion is completely illegal there (even if you and the fetus will die), so...
Brazil - Another country that hasn't been in my research, because I only looked up spanish-speaking countries. But homeschooling is illegal, so if people in the tribe has kids, they must be sent off to school.
USA(Hawaii) - Another place I don't know too much about and it may be very nice, but what about immigration? There is no language barrier though and that's good.
Indonesia - Not in my research, so I can say nothing about it.
Australia - Pretty high danger level, with many dangerous animals. Otherwise not in my research.
New Zealand - I think it was said in Blue Moon that NZ has very restrictive building laws?
China - Just too overpopulated (140 people per square kilometer). And then the language barrier (I think an european language like spanish or portuguese or french is easier to learn) and what about immigration to a country where they are already too many?
Madagascar - I know zero about Madagascar. :P
Peru - I have little bad to say about Peru, it's actually among my top 3-5. But there have been unstable wather there where people (especially up in the Andes, and especially children) have frozen to death. Now I suppose it's not the same in the northern rainforest (region called Loreto), especially not closer to sea level. They may have high rates of leishmaniasis, but no dengue fever. Abortion more or less illegal... (only if the womans health or life is threatened.) ...and you can be put in prison for two years if you break that law.
Bolivia - I say no. Extremely low rates for health. Low population density, but then the majority of the country's nature seem to be protected. Average lifespan is 66 for male, 70 for female, and the infant mortality rate is the highest of latin america (51 per 1000 under the age of five dies).
Panama - Panama seem to be restricted in the same way as Costa Rica - meaning, no hunting whatsoever.
Mexico - My vote is on Mexico, as it is in my top 2 and the other one is not on this list. ;) You can hunt, it's a big country with a very diverse nature, none of the diseases I have researched (there are twelve of them) is especially widespread in Mexico, and *cough*abortion is legal in places.
I have yet to look into immigration more extensively.
Costa Rica - No for the same reason as Panama. Basically the whole country is one big nature preserve.
Malaysia - As the other countries in the region, I know next to nothing about Malaysia or PNG.
Papua New Guinea

There are countries you have excluded from this vote though, like Uruguay, Paraguay (not that I want to go there anyway, but...), Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, etc.
I have also tried to look up Puerto Rico but I'm not too sure about it. It belongs to the US, like Hawaii (but it's not a true state), so... but GAWD do I luv their biolumi water! X)

(BTW, I have one big document on my computer covering everything from population density to different breeds of dogs and horses in different countries, diseases, temperature in different regions of some countries, dangerous animals, natural disasters, game animals, etc... I could translate it and put it on the web if you want. It's far from complete but it's something.)

but it is many countries in Africa who is in desert, so not a good place, and even most European countries, cold winters, some times, it can be cold winters, like last winter and the winter before there, even in 2010 winter, it was snow down to Israel, so I will not be in Europe, Asia or America is my answer

Nìmwey

no, I just saying it that It is not that I recommend

Nìmwey

Oh ok. I would never recommend Africa either, but Europe is not all bad. There are places where the average winter temperature lies at 14-20 degrees celcius, so I'm not buying that all of Europe is cold and snowy. ;)
But climate is shifting everywhere, like I said, even in areas of Peru people are freezing to death.

Excellent work yet again ma Nìmwey :)

I only wish I could help more than I can right now :(
