I'm having a hard time voting because I, personally, would love to see something developed in the arctic Alaska region, but to make it easier for everyone and more to the idea, it should be more in a forest.

Nanaki

Hmm ... we can't change our vote !! :-\ (I vote for NZ, but I made a mistake, I wanted to vote for Oceania - Indonesia Region)
'Itan Atxur : Just remember, NO idea is too crazy <3

Then everything changed ... I fell in love. I fell in love with the - with the forest, with the Omaticaya people... with you...
Don't thank! You don't thank for this! This is sad... VERY sad only!

Have we looked into Malaysia? There is quite a huge reserve of tropical rain forests here plus I think its better to do what we're doing than leave it to illegal logging.

Malaysia looks pretty good, but someone brought up the political situation as a No go, we had a closer look to the shared island of Borneo where it could be worth to protect the Orangutan.. somehow..

My vote against the US is still the green-card problematic for a permanent stay of foreigners ....

It would be cool if the Guy who wrote the mail to the NZ Government could PM me the content if it as a template for the New Caledonian Government, i would like to take over this communication if possible, Irayo in advance!

What is with the political situation? Hmm......what about Kalimantan area of Indonesia?

New Zealand sounds a good idea as well but is the climate colder? I haven't been there before. =)

there seem to be very few uninhabited islands anywhere :( >:(

it looks as if we might have to be where people are already but i could live with that.

Ok, I voted for 'North America-Canada' But I would also be cool with Alaska area.  Mostly because I plan on living in Oregon which would put me already pretty close to the tribe and It would be easier to 'commute'.

So, I propose to South America (brasilia, ecuador, etc) and latin america (cosa rica) here's why:

1. Climate is for our's benefit, we can't get hypothermia because seasons like we have here simply don't exist. Therefore we also don't have the pressure of time to produce warm enough clothing for winter.

2. The fauna and flora there is one of a kind. Of course you have to enquire about what vegetables and animals are useful for us, but surely there is enough eatable.

3. There are national parks as large that (in case at a pinch) we could move to them, okay at an economic view it's not the best place for us but nevertheless exploitation isn't so radical how it is somewhere else. For example: In costa rica the rain forests are because of the ecological tourism preserved from the state.

4. A lot of private organizations are trying to safeguard the rainforest respectively they keep an eye of clearings etc.

drawbacks:

There are so many animals which have distinct advantage over us. We certainly won't be the most dangerous creatures living there, added to this we shouldn't forget all the poisonous animals, whereas I don't think this'll be one of our main problems, before moving there we have to learn everything about flora and fauna anyway, and we have to learn this no matter where we are going.

I'd dehort from the residual because of the following reasons:

1. Afrika reached economically the end of the line. Mineral resources are getting more and more exploited and civil wars are daily routine.

2. South Asia, China don't stick at nothing... just take a look at the native tribes in india... china also isn't that aversed to armed force and I think the other countries there will not be aversed of it too.

3. Europe, USA, Canada aren't suitable because there are just too many people living in other words: the chance of getting found is very high. And nobody of us will end up as a curiosity for tourists or ?? Aside from that climate and animal population are bad requirements for us to live there.

4.  In Russia (and the north part of asia) the winters are way too rough and we also can't expect any support (in the event of clearing or suchlike) from the state. Plus mineral deposits are getting utilized too much and even the live stock isn't very overwhelming

5. In Indonesia /Australia we have the problems that  the rain forest in Australia is too small and Indonesia enslaves their own people to produce cheap goods this fact will be a serious problem for us because we'd be involved in a conflict we could never win...

Letxuma Swizaw

I would have to say that your argument that people will find us and we will become a tourist attraction a bit unfounded. Why would people want to go out of their way to come see a few people living in the woods if that was really interesting enough more people would be visiting the native reservations around here.

Also to cite specific examples, Brent Ladd's group of environmentalist who are doing this and have done it for many years in northern Michigan are unbothered and no one cares about them. The only way i know about them is because of an article someone posted on this board (i believe it was Txon Taronyu) about Ladd trying to publish a book a couple of years ago on some backwoods badly-coded Html web page.

do you really think the media wouldn't care about us if they found out that a group of "crazyavatarfan"-people moves into the rainforest to live like the na'vi ???

Fox news would. But real news, no.

I don't see why we would be associated with that though. It's not like we will be running into the forest painted blue with queues it won't be obvious why we're doing it unless we tell them in which case they won't come and bother us in the first place without knowing our intentions. Even if they did, they would do one story and then run out of stuff to report that would attract viewers and stop caring about us.

This is very true. There are a number of "eco-villages" and communes (in various states of wildness) that are around, and they seem to not attract TOO much attention.

yeah but if were speaking Na'Vi as well we will attract attention

i agree with Navi on pretty much all of his points but everyone wants somethign different and everyone thinks there right ( dont deny it im exactly the same)

have we worked out what we really want for the tribe, iv been thinking and if we can compile everyone's ideas into something then we can work out the best location from that

k so heres my Idea everyone Pm me with your perfect tribe sorta, location, biome(environment), climate pretty much every thign you can think of and ill try and collate all of that over this weekend and post it on monday

Well, I voted for Indonesia region. I think the biodiversity in this region is an add-on.

I am garented that where ever we go, if we are found we will become a torist atraction.

Reasons:
Speacking na'vi = (if the guy finds us speaks Na'vi) Know that we are avatar enthouseusts (trying not to say avatar freaks (damn, I did it again(man your stupid(no I'm not(yes you are(well letes agree to disagree(no)))))))
odd clothing(by todays standereds)
