We still have no idea where this tribe will be. We'd love to hear your ideas, though!

Guidelines:

-We'd like it somewhere warm most of the year, hopefully near the equator

-We'd also like it remote, but not too remote that it takes several hours to drive someone to the nearest hospital (if necessary (or, someone could learn how to fly a helicopter))

-Somewhere with enough food (both plants and animals) to support lots of people

-Cheap, if possible, but don't be scared by price tags.

NO ISLANDS!

I would like to point out the equator in America is going to take lots of traveling from every one. I would suggest a more northern spot to start with thin find more places to lay our seeds. This way our tutorial spot can get popularity this more people can see a practicality in what this is.

I had a few Indian reserves we could probably convince a tribe to share there land with us. this way we can hunt without worrying about bow season and we can also learn basic crafting skills from them....

who likes my idea? it's free :D

Note: If we want to survive take good notes on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecovillage

I think, the only suitable place would be the south american rainforest.

But i worry about the future of the forest. Someday, all trees will be burnt down.  >:(
A national park would be great...

Why would all the trees be burnt down, and how do you seem to know this for certain?

I don't think that we need to go to the Equator, but just close enough so that it is warm enough to stay there plausibly.

I am here just to give you suggestions and ideas. I intend to live the na'vi style on my own way, living where I live, but it would be cool if I could join here just to discuss ideas.

I have already mentioned in another thread that I am from Brazil and my father was born at the Amazon state, at the rainforest.  Believe me, specially if you are coming from the North, you couldn't possibly last a day there, living the way in the movie. The  Brazilian army itself has the best military specialized in jungle task force and even they have a lot of trouble to deal with all dangerous there. Believe me, a lot...  ;D

We're not going to the Amazon, so that's not a problem.

Oh, I am relieved to know it...  ;D

Talking seriously, maybe Hawaii could be a good place to go. I read that Jim Cameron took the actors for doing some training there.

Would be nice and the closest to Na'vi livability in the states but otherwise no. Just wouldn't work too well.

So why no islands?

Expensive, hard to get to, too isolated to be within reach of modern medicine... That sort of thing ^_^
