I also propose bringing a large stock on nonperishable foods right off the bat, in case our natural supply runs low.

definitely, and there's quite a lot of ways we can preserve food. In summary the way to preserve food is to remove its moisture, change the salt/sugar levels or modify the pH. So we can do things like drying, pickling, salting etc. to make our food last longer for winter months or if we have a bad week hunting or something.

I like the first 2. I don't think we need the last one yet.

All good stuff. Can you think of anything else we'd need to have or know to do?

Yeah there's lots of important stuff about food but this is for discussion in the food thread

introducing animals into an area can have big ramifications eg teh cane toad and rabbits in austrailia

we could ruin the ecosystem and then we would be in the s***

i just posted on teh location thread saying that if were not having rain forests then we can by plains which we could do animal husbandry on but only if we were sure that introducing a spicies or increasing the numbers of a species already there wasnt goin to have any bad ramifications upon the ecosystem.

Your human we are going to need vegitables and fruits of some kind added to our meals on the hoof. If the forest/jungle will not provide it then to a degree we must be some sort of gather and farmer. Just my 2cents and yes I know how to tend a garden (( though mrs Q would say I know how to intimdate to grow ))
