Yeah, the spiritual part is yours to choose, I was just wondering on what to do for a sacred/worshiping site, but it seems that other people already have progressive ideas about it so no worries! ;D

Okay, but I'll carve my stuff into dead trees.

:( Dead trees make me sad. But it's necessary, I suppose.

I am all for the creation of a main place to gather, worship, conduct business, etc. I am personally all for this, and I am endorsing it ^_^ Whatever that may do to help.

If it doesn't then, I really don't know what we will do for a spiritual site like that. I hope that 'Itan Atxur and Uriuujin are thinking about this! Probably not because Uriuujin is lock crazy until we decide on a location and 'Itan Atxur's computer is down so... IDK  :-\

It's just so that we can get something done! :P so there ^_^

Even though you are lock crazy you keep us focused on the task at hand and for that I thank you!

ooh ya I don't think we should make a tree of souls thing

I think we should! But to its' own restrictions, meaning that we will have our tree of souls be smaller so that we can fit it in our worshiping building/site!

I dream of a paradise, where everyone is treated equal, where the planet is lush with nature and everyone is happy.

I hold to the sole belief, that my skin will peel off and that I will be reborn as a Na'vi.

Swokéyan

Yeah and a toiletpaper tree is not an option  ;D

wouldnt it be before Gaia !?

and i think something like that should be done in private as it is the most intimate thing possible
so i would say like jake and neytiri, just away from people in a beautiful part of the forest

But we would need to keep records- The reason that Marriage licenses are needed are so that we can keep tabs on the genetic line of different families to prevent inbreeding ^_^;; incest is awkward for everyone

And it causes birth defects. Perhaps the most famous case of this were the Hapsburgs. They inbreeded so much that they had a huge jaw deformation that made them speak with a horrible lisp.

Say...... Why is it that inbreeding causes birth defects? I often hear people say that but have never look into the reason to that.

Yea same actually.. I have an idea about what it will be but im sure :P

The fact that related people have so similar genes means that they cut down on genetic diversity, which is necessary for almost every biome imaginable. Since the genetic diversity is slim to none, certain aspects of human DNA, usually extremely recessive, can eventually make themselves shown, like Albinos and that sort of thing. Not to say that all Albino people are by-products of incest, which would be the opposite of true, but that is just the only good example I could think of at the moment ^_^

A small fringe benefit of having people from all over means that the tribe would have a large amount of genetic diversity. Enough that under normal conditions inbreeding wouldn't be a problem for several generations.

Oh, so its just like you keep reusing the same genes and some day the recessive ones are bound to show up? If you marry outside the family, the introduction of new genes reduces the possibility of recessive genes actually passed down to babies. Is that how it works?

In the short term yes. In the long term there's also a heightened risk of allele mutation, however.

Why would there be risks of allele mutation in the long term?

Fnua Atxkxe

In the long term, if there are children, the amount of new genes swimming about in there becomes stagnated (an example of this here about some people who "left" society 500 years ago and have asthma and breathing problems now). Allele is just a shorthand form of allelomorph = other form. Thus what we are saying is that in the long term, the amount of genetic differences between our future generations will be quite small. I think we will be all right if  we keep getting other people to join over the years (maybe the proposed eco-village could handle that). I think once we are properly established we will get more people joining.
