I know there are a few job listing threads, but this one is for the jobs we need to be doing now; Research.

I'm thinking we all volunteer and get a clear view of what everyone is learning so that we are sure all of our bases are covered. Note: if you volunteer to research and learn something, please try to learn as much as you can about it. Also, if you change your mind, let the group know! You are welcome, and encouraged to undertake more than one road of study.

Example of things we need mastery over:

Ethology/Wild life study - most important and easier to learn once location is decided. Includes everything from birds, to fish, to predators, to prey, to bugs, and all the things that could be good and BAD about them! Also note any tamable ones.
Medicine - as many branches as possible. Know a doctor or medical student with our mindset? Invite him/her
Political Science study – To both aid in our own governing and to stay out of radar to the other country's governments
Botany study – Because we need to know what plants are good, what are bad, and what could make useful things. Also, learning ways to store would be great
Fighting – wrestling, martial arts, knife/sword play, archery, pole arms... capoeira...? Haha
Musicianship – particularly craftable instruments (also learn how to craft such instruments!)
Nutritionist – because our diet is VERY important!
Hygienists - Particularly alternative ways of cleanliness. I doubt toothpaste will be readily available.
Fitness - Particularly things to increase strength, speed, and cardio
Architects – because sleep on hammock is not going to keep us safe in cold, windy, and rainy conditions
Ecology study – also best when decided on where we're going. We need to know as much about the area as possible.
Hydrologists – because maintaining clean water is a good thing
Wood working, stone working, and minerals – not everything comes from trees
Historians – so that we may not make the mistakes others have and learn from their examples
Parasite study – Seriously, you'd be amazed at what one bug can do, and I'm not talking about fleas!

And anything else that might be handy! Seriously, this is a very incomplete list and if you learn something, please try to be a master at it! We really only have one chance before a government of some sort shuts us down for life endangerment of others.

Well I'm very serious about taking that wilderness class I posted about a while ago which pretty much covers all the bases about the wilderness and surviving off of it. But with my finances the way they are, I may have to put that off for a little while. I should still be able to complete 2 years of it (which is all they offer) before we do this.

Good thoughts. I'm not sure where I would be able to help there, though. I have not been around long enough to really be good at any of that.

fnue atxkxe - Irayo! Any and all help will be most appreciated, I'm sure.  ;D

Tonbogiri - Ah! I look forward to hearing your findings.  :D

Twonyu Ikranä - Ah yes, fitness is important. *edit edit* Also, I'm sure any and all skills will benefit the community in their own ways. But might I also suggest taking up one of the other studies. I'm not saying you have to take a credit course on anything, but learning on the side or simply research would be most beneficial to us.

bagget00 - As the community will probably not be off the ground for awhile, there is still ample time for you to learn. Research and practice will help us all in the end, I believe. Just pick a topic that interests you and read about it for a while. If it still has your interest, try putting it to practice.

What we can eat and what's toxic (pretty important i think). but any help's always welcome.
I'm going into unknown territory. But it's also verry depending on where we go.
When i'm ready for sure i'll make a topic of this, but first a location.

I could help with the fitness/fighting areas. I have always been interested in fighting; that is probably why I joined a martial art for over 6 years  :D. I am also into fitness. I will try to learn a lot more about it than I do now.

I would like to add the spirital and mental well being of a person is just as important as their physical. As I stated in a thread befor I am learning to be a preacher (scary anit it Paster Quaritch) Historian also sounds like something I would most deffently be interested in as well I do have knowledge in martial arts I can pass on to teach, I have 50years of life experiance that is worth something at least

i think that there should be teachers of the Na'vi too, because there will always be someone who haven't learn the language or maybe haven't learn all of it  :)

Actually, I'm a little curious about the role of religion and spirituality in our community. Since not everyone will have the same beliefs. Though I suppose religious or not, there will always be the link to nature that'll bind us together. And tell the missus her skills are MORE than welcome! Perhaps she'd be will to share her knowledge with those that also want to lend a hand with nursing.  :D
