I'm sorry over a few typos, as I've typed this all on my iPod Touch, when I'm on my computer it is much easier to type properly

Kaltxì!

Ok I've tested it a while back of 'does the music you are listening to affects your dreams?'. My results where conclusive: depending on what you are listening to it does affect your dream(s).

So I'm going to see what kinds of dreams I will get while I sleep tonight listening to the Avatar Soundtrack! At this moment I'm listening to it right now :D! I must admit: the music was brilliantly created!

Anyways, I'll fill in the information when I wake up (I can't say tomorrow, it's already passed midnight... organizing my music, and lost track of time... seems to happen a lot to me) in a few hours! So if anyone has tried the experience, please post what you dreamed about :)! And hey, I might even add my philosophical thoughts of dreams and the action of dreaming... (Ok the last sentence was more of a mental note, but still...)

What results did you get from what music in your initial tests? I'd love to know.

I've fallen asleep a few times with the soundtrack playing in the background, but I've never had any dreams about it.  I did however fall asleep last night with the TV on and I did have some odd dreams about a Sleep Number style bed and some P90X exercise program, guessing those were the infomercials that were on last night...

My initial tests were controlled by three different types of music, listened to
on different nights. The first on was listening to Infected
Mushrooms, The second night I was listening to Brainwave Entrainment
frequencies (which were also the most influencial to my dreams), and of course, the Avatar Soundtrack the I listened to last night!

Ok first of all, you will need a little history about Infected Mushrooms in my perspective. A few years back, myself and my family moved to Campbell River (Vancouver Island), BC, Canada. On the first day of school (In Timberline Secondary School (It was the best public school I've ever been in! The teaching structure actually helped for a change, so far in fact I had my first (and unfortunately, only) honour roll!), I was introduced to weed... And my music preferrences changed from hard-core Metallica to Infected Mushrooms & Sphongle... so trippy! Anyways, Myself and my family had to move
back to Prince George, BC, Canada 3/4 of the way of the school year... it is simple too expensive to live there!

Alright, now that the first short history lesson is done, I can easily explain the dream I had while listening to Infected Mushrooms: It was two years after we had to move back to Prince George. I just wanted to listen to music while I slept, there was no intention that time. But it seems to triggered memories of Campbell River, friends, fights and the biggest part, my most favourite school (that actually taught me a quite a few things, unlike other school), Timberline Secondary School! So what was happening? What events? Well, all that seemed to happen was exploring arreas in Campbell River that I remember, and Inwas in school more then anything else. So yea, it's pretty straight forward.

Anyways, I'm getting tired typing on my iPod Touch, so I'll add the other two dreams later!

Alright I'm finishing up the last two dreams...

While I listened to brain-associative frequencies with a program called "Brainwave Entrainment" (if you want to help your brain maintain and improve your cognitive functions, Google it and download the application! I noticed the free demo version has an unlimited time frame, the only drawback is that you can only add your own custom frequencies, not any downloaded ones... just create and mp3 version of it, and yea... the rest is pretty self-explanatory... if you want to know more about brain frequencies, just Google "Binaural" or "Brain Frequencies" and find the wikipedia site (for a start... the curious ones will learn more by exploring other websites!)) and play a few of the existing frequencies... it will contribute to some of the more wild dreams! Needless to say... Depending on the frequencies you're listening to, it actually helps you fall asleep faster, can bring you down to a deeper sleep, and as I said, contributes to wild dreams! (Try a 10hz to 1hz over an hour, set to maintain 1hz after the hour). I will testify: I was well rested and a completely remember the dream after! (You know the phrase "there are a thousand words for every picture"? Well, there is know way I can explain the dream properly, as it was over a couple million "pictures"... do that math :P. Just give it a try! (BTW some frequencies (7hz optimal) helps you learn... like learning the language of Na'Vi... I want to incorporate subliminal messages in the method of teaching myself the Na'Vi language!)

And finally, while I was listening to the Avatar Soundtrack, I thought repeatably about the world of Pandora, and the wonders of it... needless to say, my dream was about exploring the place, finding new species, and strangely, I could speak the language fluently... Too bad I don't have that skill in reality, but it shows even more of the potential of the human mind! (I might not have been speaking properly in the sense of the actually language, and sorry, I do not remember a word, I just remember that I was speaking the (a) language of which was not a human made language (I know, contradictive... my mind is human so therefore the language was made by a human, but the language was not understood by any other people on the face of OUR planet... who to say that the language I spoke is real on another planet?)...

Yeh that seems to fit, you had the idea that music affects your dreams, therefore you believed it, therefore it happened. Its like a form of lucid dreaming where because you thought you were going to have those dreams, you did :) I dont think the type of music helps that much as if you believe you will dream of eating chocolate when you listen to rap music, you probably would!

Excellent point, daz222! I thought about something on those lines after I woke up listening to the brainwave frequencies: 'it is all in you mind'.

All is within your mind! (I gotta add that to my signature :P)

In a matter of speaking, it is a placebo. From what I understand, it 'helps' you mind to 'synchronize' the frequencies you're listening to to the current operating frequencies you mind is working with. Technically, with a desciplined mind, you can acheive the intented frequencies without external sources, like listening to brain frequencies. For the most part, meditation is the best way to achieve the intention!

I will not rule out the potential of listening to those frequencies. For me, listening to those frequencies combined with meditation truly helps you to succeed; such as improving cognitive functionality, honing memory skills, add to an individual's creativity/imagination!

Combine listening to frequencies, meditation, learn a new language or two, and do some cognitive training (as I said learn a new language or two, work on some math, or google 'cognitive traing'. Thee are many free games for that purpose! My favourite site for those games 'http://www.cognitivefun.net'). And possibly the most important parts of improving your mental capabilities: eat healty and exersize! It does jus trim weight and add/tone muscles, it improves the communication within you brain and the nervous system to those muscles!

There are other elements in what I said, and if you curious, just look it up! For all you know, it might even improve you capability of speaking/understanding Na'Vi's language! Oh yea, there is one more important element (and probably THE most impotant of them all): believe!!! If you doubt, it will either not work at all, or reduce the full capability of those tips!

Ok, ok: my last statement: I follow those tips, and believe me, the work! I think it is time to tell you guys something I don't think all of you will believe: I had a serious stroke in September 29th, 2005. The result was called 'expressive dysphasia'. In other words, I still fully understood my primary language, English, but I simple could not speak nor write. I believe being able to overcome those limitation where partly contibuted by using those tips I stated above! (Just by being able to type my thoughts proves that)! (Oh and please don't post just saying 'I'm sorry over the stroke', I'm using that event as factual information. What has happened has happened, and I can't change that (until I figure a way to travel back in time, anyways), all I can do is accept it and live with what I have!)

well, for me, last 3 nights has been amazing :)
i've dreamed with pandora, even that i was a Na'vi.
and today, sounds weird, the first words i said were in Na'vi :P
involuntarily :D
Well, i put in background sleeping music the avatar soundtrack and the words in audio that someone uploaded here.
For me, it's really amazing.

Doxy

Before I could dream with Lucidity, when I got in bed, I would put myself into an altered state (Mind Awake, Body Asleep) like you do before you project.
(Close your eyes, breath rythmically, don't wear restrictive clothing, relax, don't even move a muscle and continue this until you find your body is nearly numb. Don't grit your teeth, don't flick your finger.) This is also the state that Hypnotists will put you in to influence your mind.
And then I would start the Avatar ST with headphones on in the dark, Starting from (You don't Dream in Cryo) and going on.
Believe with all of your heart that you are as Jake Sully, in a tank, forming a link with your Avatar for the first time.
Go the extra mile and fill your head with such thoughts as "Geez, feeling kind of claustraphobic..." "I hope this works." "I wonder what it feels like to have a tail." "I sure hope Grace knows what she's doing."

And let the music set the stage. The ups and downs of the music will guide you through your trip to Pandora. By the middle of "Jake Enters his Avatar Body" you should begin to believe that you, too, have done so. Cosidering the state of relaxation that you are in,
How receptive to suggestion your brain will be, and how much clutter is gone from your mind, you will be able to visualize everything in
your world right down to the tiniest Warbonnet. You'll be able to feel the water when you swim.

Two warnings, though:

Warning the First: Since you are not in control of the "Dream" as you are when Lucid, you will not be in control of the flow of events. The music will decide when you have spent enough time with the Ikran, when you have spent enough time in the relaxing forest. It will decide when the time for Tragedy has come, and when it's just time to have fun and fool around.
If you are in a place with a pool, and you want to swim, DONT spend time contemplating it. It will only last 3 minutes, though t will feel much longer than that, and when the music decides that the scene is over, it's over. Unless you've got that track on repeat, you can't go back.

Warning the Second: Like I said, the state you will be in is completely open to suggestion. If you are in a quiet, dark room; you may feel vulnerable. If the music takes a loud turn, or suddenly picks up, it's possible to start to panic. All that means is a brief rush of addrenaline. Because of that, I suggest stopping the album before Scorched Earth unless you are one of those mad risktakers. :/

I'm definitely going to try this, as I've experienced this partially with some other ideas I've had that seem to have a mind of their own when mixed with Daft Punk, sleep deprivation, and a very relaxed state. Unfortunately, I don't have the Avatar soundtrack. I do, however, have other music that might work, and I think I've got a good enough memory and imagination that it might work.
Kaltxì, and who knows? It might help with lucid dreaming!

Here's to not knowing exactly what you're saying and having fun with it.

I do it ever night and most nights turn out pretty good. One instance was where I went to bond with a Ikran by myself. As it turns out, none of the Ikran would bond with me, but then there was an Ikran appeared, but it was different from the other. It was a pure white with midnight blue markings and a pure black horn on the lower jaw. The Ikran was also a little bigger than the other Ikran. After bonding with my Ikran, we took flight and just flown around the mountains.

I might get a journal, so then I can write my dreams down in it.

Swok Txon

you should write the dreams in Na'vi as well to improve your grammar etc.

man i can't wait to get to sleep tonight!

(say wut??!?!??!)

Eywal ngaru teing oeti

Yeah, I plan on doing that as well. I can't to dream some more of being on Pandora.

Taronyu ta'em

Damn, I should try this out!  ;D

btw, is it best to let the music play loud?

You don't want to play too loud, but you also don't want to play too low. You want to find a balance between the two, but it's depends on the person. It would also depends on where you stereo is or if you have an ipod.

I have an Ipod Home theater and I have the volume set on 13 and it's in the far corner of my room, which is perfect for me.

Na'rìng

The volume is low enough so I can hear my breathing, but loud enough to hear each tone in the song. It is best to make sure the song is the only foreign sound you hear, because you will technically hear all sounds while you sleep. Other noises may be considered as distractions, and may abruptly change your dream. At least it holds true to me, anyways!
