Hey,

this hasn't been mentioned yet and it just came to me in the shower. I had this wonderful idea that we do a video documentation of the project once it gets started. Something to show the rest of the world what it is like, also kinda like the video logs that Jake has to do in Avatar.

This can then be posted on the webpage or whatever, I just thought it was a good idea and something to think about.

That is a great idea! I mean, we were thinking about doing a sort of online documentation, but using video as well is a great idea, though I would want to reserve that for a few key events and the like, such as the first week, the 100th day, holidays, all that sort of thing. Still, this is a great idea. The only thing I see coming against this is the anti-tech people who are also members of the Tribe ^_^ They are entitled to their own opinion. I am casting my own support for this, if you are willing to do the actual documentation, unless someone else would like to and you choose to let them. But it is all up to the Eyktan.

That is the only issue I see in this plan. The fact that we are trying to leave behind technology but I think there should be some way of documenting it to show the world how its done :P

I am liking the idea of only on major events. I can see it becoming a huge pain to keep filming stuff.

Well, I don't see anyway we could realistically not have a computer. We're going to need internet access to try and "recruit" people (because theirs no way we're gonna catch every bodies interest before we actually do this). So if we have a computer then I see no reason we couldn't film a documentary or something like that and post it on the internet to generate interest in the tribe.

I think this is a brilliant idea, TC. Karma for you!!

Well, we don't want too much interest, because we have to limit the tribe to ~150 members max.

Therefore, go ahead and document, but we shouldn't be recruiting.

Yes, down the line that is true. But right NOW we need to be generating interest because we hardly have anybody (and even fewer women :(). So something like a documentary, or even a podcast updating the projects pre-actually happening progress would help us at least get a good core.

Ok. I think I can organize that. But what would we be talking about?

I really don't know at the moment. It's kind of too late at night for my eltu to properly function and put a proper idea together.

 ;D Karma!

Anyway, at the moment the forum is a good way of documenting the "making of".

The problem I see here is that we don't want to make a website yet and we can't exactly put up video footage or any textual references yet because we haven't done anything. Perhaps if the idea of a practice campout style thing goes ahead (next year please so I am out of school) then that can be shown on the the forum as a recruitment drive.

We could do a podcast or something just for Learnnavi.org.

I would personally love to write some sort of article for our Tribe to be put on the site ^_^ I'm a bit of a writer myself, as it were. But this is a really good discussion, and I like where it is going.

I am in disagreement. We need to recruit as many people as we can. If there are so many people that a second, seperate Tribe is necessary, then I will be happier than I could tell you ^__^ We want to share this connection and love for nature with as many people as will answer our call! That is my opinion on the subject, anyway.

Video footage from the first week of our camp would be great, but so far, with what we have come up with and decided on, it should be limited to a weekly newsletter that we could subscribe to.

  • Have dicsusions with good debates from that week
  • Have decisions reached
  • Have Decisions that have been changed
  • Have new topics and ideas
  • Have poll results from that week as well

That is a VERY good point! I'm almost ashamed of myself for not seeing it that way.

Don't be ashamed! You had an excellent point- population control is a major issue that has many different ways of being dealt with, and I am glad that you were able to bring that up ^_^ I should have said that last night, but I was tired and forgot XD That is an issue that will also need to be addressed... but not here.

I think even a simple podcast about what we're currently discussing (and more than likely disagreeing about!) would even be a good idea. It at least shows that we're doing something and trying to get this thing going. The more people see that WE'RE serious, the more people will join.
