The problem is txontaw, is your thinking on a national scale, the reason today's society is so messed up and corrupt is because of the sheer size of the population, for it to work on such a massive scale there needs to be a system where people are always going to be in worse position than another person, e.g. rich or poor. And because of this distance between the people their is going to be unrest and corruption, because one of humanity's biggest problems is envy. Essentially, the system in place in the tribe is going to be communism, but communism only woks in small scale situations, not for entire nations, and the tribe is a small-scale situation. I can't say for definite that the tribe will work, but all the hope and determination of this close-knit community makes me really think it will!

Excellent post. I've been saying for YEARS that our greatest issue ATM isn't terrorism or resource consumption or petty things like health care (not saying health care isn't important) but population. Every time someone asks me if I'm pro life or pro choice I say I'm pro pop control.

Haha, so true. Whenever anyone asks me how I would make the world a better place, I say start a Nuclear Holocaust.

Lol. How sad is it that something like that could actually help?

I posted something like that on Myspace once...

"It's sad to live and know that the human race is slowly defeating itself".

My brother's response.

"Humans are stupid. Go nuclear arms!".

Personally I don't see how shallow is an appropriate choice of word here, maybe if you could explain it. Personally I can see exacly the point that is being made by that. All that is being said is that we as a species are making such a mess of our planet, our race and that it is only a matter of time before we come to a slow and painful death most likely after many painful years of decline so we may as well get it over and done with quickly by destroying ourselves now before we screw things up more. I think it is a very good point actualy and if everyone could see it perhaps more people would take steps to change.

Well, in a way... we want to lessen the population without genocide, but that could take years.

one thing - NO NUCLEAR WAR

because if we wipe ourselves out... we must at least try and do it in an environmentally friendly way because a nuclear war will probably end all life on earth.
or at least most of it
Only mostly AWOL.

Actually not really. It's not like we'd be aiming at anywhere unpopulated, where most of the life is. We'd pretty much just be nuking Russia, the US, and Europe. And that's no where near any of the species hotspots.

it's not the explosion that will kill most things.
It's the radiation.
if i remember right the AOE of the radiation is stupendous if you nuke Russia, most of Asia will be affected
USA most of Canada and Mexico will be affected.

and that's only with small nukes.
Only mostly AWOL.

It'd be the equivalent of a mass extinction, basically. Animals have survived mass extinctions in the past. It'd basically be an asplosion Earth reset button.

Well, the US has this really big bomb in the center, not a 'kaboom' one, but an electromagnetic one. Basically if they set it off, all electronics in the country die, and a portion of the people would kill themselves not knowing what to do without electronics.

Why would they kill themselves if they didn't have electronics? If anything, it's the things that the EMP shuts down that would kill people. Planes, water sanitation, and other things would kill people.

But people killing themselves? No. We're more resourceful than that.

You'd be shocked how few of us actually could survive w/o electronics.

Yeah, but like I said, we wouldn't kill ourselves over it. Other factors would kill us. That's just stupidity.

Who's being the pessimist now?

Yeah, I think they should have survival classes in highschool and college. It'd serve everyone good. Then eventually maybe Green Anarchism will set in, then the government's against us, and then you know what happens from there.
