Is this Jedi as in Star Wars?

Yes...kinda. I am a real-life Jedi. Please don't advertise that! Those couple threads (including this one) is enough publicity.
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

I have read this thread, and I am going to send you all a warning- you will treat this thread with respect, as well as our resident Jedi Padawan Tsawla Eltu Tsmaslyu. I will not be happy if I find out otherwise ^_^ Irayo!

Now, tsmukan, I am curious- what are your beliefs exactly? You'll find that almost everyone here is not only tolerant but inquisitive about other belief systems, and will treat you with as much respect as they would myself or the future Eyktan. Right, guys? >_>

Don't worry, I'm not attacking you, I was just curious.

Irayo. I hardly get any respect out there in the real world. Well, we Jedi follow the Jedi Code (my signature + "The Force" at the end). Where should I start?

Are you doing this as a way of life? Like a code of conduct/honor?

Tsawla Eltu Tsamsiyu

Yes. It is my life. I've always chosen what no one else would even think about (its gotten me through high school so far so I must be doing something right!) and in the world I live in, it just seemed like the logical choice. I couldn't choose just one religious belief. "Jedi" is like a combination of multiple religions (all of which I like) and it is MUCH better than anything else I could think of. So fusing "Jedi" and "Na'vi" (for me) makes the ultimate belief system. It encompasses mental/physical/Force training, adherence to the Code, and life-goal of being the best that I can be at all times no matter what. Irayo, all of you, for your support.

Do you have some sort of Training regimen? And what are your meditative techniques? I cannot remember when, but said that you actually built your own lightsaber, may I ask how you did that? What exactly do you believe, in detail? Sorry for asking so many questions, I am just interested in this, and want to know as much as I can ^_^

Tsawla Eltu Tsamsiyu

Nonsense! Jedi encourage others to ask questions! It helps people to become more aware.

First: training regimen. Well, I try to get an hour's worth of physical activity in each day. I do pushups, situps, some basic martial arts, walking/jogging, and (you are going to love this!) I do twenty-five to fifty FFVII squats. Yes, Final Fantasy Seven. Its a great workout! All of my classes at school are higher level classes so as to keep me fit mentally. A lot of fast-paced memory games in my theatre class. Then I try to get some time in for practicing my Force abilities. Projecting my thoughts, making myself "invisible," moving things with my mind (I can't move anything very far because I have yet to unlearn what I have learned  ;D), etc. Other people have different regimens, but that's mine.

Second: meditative. I practice basic meditation when I have some free time. I try to get at least fifteen minutes in a day. My favorite meditation is the Jedi Battle Meditation, or using the Force through meditation to enhance the morale of my partners/teammates/group members/etc. I have tried to astral project through meditation, unfortunately I failed. " That is why you fail. Do, or do not...there is no try."

Third: lightsaber. Building a lightsaber is the test a Youngling or Jedi Hopeful must pass in order to become a Padawan. Each lightsaber is completely unique to its creator. Do not ask me to build you one. Many people have seen my craftsmanship and have asked me to, only to hear me say, "I cannot build you one. As each is unique to its creator, yours would be unique to me, not you." My lightsaber is of a basic design. Most of the parts came from many different hardware stores. Lowes, Home Depot, Radioshack, Ace Hardware, and others. I will post a picture of it sooner or later. No, it cannot  light up or make noise, neither does it have a cheap plastic blade. It is a tool to be used only in self-defense and the defense of others (and not in that order), not a toy. I proudly wear it wherever I go because it is a symbol of my beliefs. Sadly, I cannot wear it to school.  :(

Fourth: belief. We Jedi believe that the Force is a life energy that binds all the matter in the universe together. "For my ally, is the Force. And a powerful ally it is. Life creates it...makes it grow." "The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together." The Force has a will but is not a conscientious entity. In another thread I compared the Force to Eywa, except that the Force applies to the whole universe. There is no light or dark side, only what you make it. If you use it for evil, then it is evil. If you use it for good, then it is good. I use it for good, therefore the Force is good (for me). The Force is all things and therefore is the end to all things. Once you die you become one with the Force. Once anything living is destroyed it goes back to the Force. Like in Avatar when Jake says that Neytiri said that all energy is only borrowed and must be returned eventually. So it is true with the Force. We also believe that anyone can be turned back from the dark side. "No one deserves death" is another belief. Here is where I say that Hitler didn't deserve to die. A LOT of people would say that he did. But to the Jedi, he didn't. Life is to be enjoyed. What he did was wrong, but he DID NOT deserve to die. Jedi are also not allowed to kill unless they have to, nor are we permitted to act with any kind of violence unless the situation demands it. First would be to ask, then ask again, then negotiation, pleading, warning, verbal threat, physical threat, verbal violence, and finally physical violence. fnua atxkxe once asked about Jedi and avoiding emotions. My reply was, "As it is impossible to truly avoid negative emotions, we are taught that when one shows we must acknowledge it and deal with it in a constructive, rather than destructive, way. To let them go. We are to take a step back and think. It is only natural to feel those emotions. Once you identify and let go of those negative emotions, they do not have any power over you. The dark side works through those emotions and grows. "Sadness leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate...leads to the dark side." When they say to avoid, they mean to avoid what triggers those emotions (if it is not what you are supposed to be dealing with). Like if you are in a grocery store and someone starts shouting profanities at you, would you respond with a negative or positive emotion? Most people choose the negative. If you avoid the person entirely, eventually they will stop. If you were to engage them with a positive emotion, then things might actually get worse than if you had just ignored the person."

That is as far as I can go today. Even Jedi must rest! ;D I hope you all learned something interesting about real-life Jedi.

I'm not trying to attack your beliefs, but I do want to call into question this;

QuoteProjecting my thoughts, making myself "invisible," moving things with my mind

So far I have never seen anything that would prove that that is possible. I'm afraid I'd have to see it to believe it. I have no problem with your beliefs, but the supernatural power stuff calls for a ???.

(And in order for me to believe telekinesis, I'd have you strip down practically naked in a location I choose on a table I choose, with an object I choose (according to what you can move), with about fifty people come to be witnesses in you moving something. (Please note; this is not specific to you, I set that (a long time ago) as what I would have someone do to prove that they can do telekinesis.)

You want to see a thread that went downhill fast? Look no further:

But more on topic, I don't think the force can be done. George Lucas did lie, but not by much. He forgot to say that we, as humans, do not have a high enough midichlorian count to use large aspects of the force, although we are able to use small amounts for pointless psychic visions (I.E Those moments when you think "I knew that was the answer", or "I knew that was what you were going to say", or "I bet that's <NAME> on the phone... OMG IT IS")

I am not at all skillied with telekinesis (psychokinesis) and I can't really move anything larger than a penny. Thats probably because I don't practice enough. With everything going on I  just don't have time.

"Nothing is impossible, there are only varying degrees of difficulty. Some are prepared to endure the hardship's of difficulty and other's are not"

While I sympathise with how some aspects of this may seem unbelievable, you must simply accept that you don't know and accept that it is a possibility however unlikely it seems. I agree that more explanation would be great but I think that the answers to these questions are ones that you must pursue yourself. I do not imagine that these answers will be immediately forthcoming or else everyone would go about doing these kind of things. It is clear that Tsawla undergoes an intensive routine to improve these skills. Thus I suggest that for a few years you try his routine or else simply accept that you are not prepared to do enough to know and that it is actually more likely that Tsawla is right.

what confuses me is that if these medichlorions control the useage of the force why has no biologist ever found anything in the blood other than red and white blood cells???

im not trying to dis you

i am a biologist and genuinely interested in it.

Doesn't offend me, not my beliefs. I just like the philosophical points. I intend to look into it more when I have more free time. I'm sure I read somewhere about a comparitive cell that could be (loosely) related to medichlorions. I can't remember though :o. Either that or there is another explanation. From my brief skimming it would seem that "the force" shares many of the characteristics of other ancient biological energies such as Qi (chi), ki, prana, spirit energy, and vitalism. If it helps try and think of it as another name for one of these. All I am saying is don't say that it doesn't exist when you don't know. I don't know either. Try and be open-minded about this.
