Leaving Things Behind

As much as the idea of this tribe sounds good and has promise (believe me, I'd love to see this go ahead and give it a wholehearted shot)...

...How many of you can realistically say you'd leave EVERYTHING behind?

Obviously I am talking predominately about Technology and Medicine, but for those of you who have certain hobbies that you just couldn't live without... How would we deal with the lack of such things? Sorry, I'm not trying to troll or anything, it's just that I had a lengthy conversation to a friend about this and he raised some good points.

I have to say that in my imaginings of this camp, I can't see us living without some form of technologies. We would need medicine, radio's/SAT Phones, internet (satelite) in order to maintain some connection to the outside world and to maintain this website everyone is planning on. Also for communications when an emergency arises such as someone gets pwned by a bear and needs medivac.

As for hobbies, well yes I think there will deffinately be some things that I miss, and I can guaruntee a few people will turn up and then leave after a few weeks.

Tsyeymzi:
Yeah, I say we branch off from the "movie" Na'vi so to speak.

Whether we like it or not, the world lives in a technological state and we can eliminate all of it. But the most basic and essential parts we really need to keep for ... well ... survival.

Things like TV, Computer, Game Consoles can be ditched, but Phones and Medicine can't.

The trickiest part is the Internet. Ideally you could cut it out, Phones help with communication. But to have a website up requires maintenance and monitoring.

So far, I believe we have had this discussion in Tribe discussion or one of these other threads. It was a multi page argument and it turned out to be something like. Big TV for Avatar Movie Night. (Every night) A comp for contact to the outside world and to this site to keep recruiting. A phone and at least sokme form of vehicular travel for emergencies.

Got a link? This forum is a little unorganized (locked stickies without redirects to the continuations?)

...I dunno about the big TV, sound great, don't get me wrong, but it just depends on how far you want to branch off.
One computer would be good, but you'd need to work out how to keep it for use only as "necessary" and not abused.
More than 1 phone would be recommended, especially if certain groups go out hunting.
And as for a vehicle, anyone got a Toyota Hilux? :)

But yeah, got a link to the conversation?
