Kaltxi,

Okay just had this idea kinda taking some stuff from those guys who are planning on leaving technology and civilization (if you can call most of earth civilized) except with them you have to like stay and live there for ever and take up the Na'vi religion some are unwiling and just want to spend time living like the Na'vi do (my friends and I) we don't however want to rake up the Na'vi faith modified to work with Gaia because we are Christians, Christians with open minds I want to set up a sort of retreat where for lets say one month or as long as you like to stay (for a yet to be determined price to keep the camp running) there will be NO electricity, pluming, or any modern technologies (except cabins or if the weather is good you can sleep out side), there will alos be na'vi culture and language lessons every day for people (theses are mandatory), I am also planning on having this be in WA state due to the forests and I live here in WA i would some day like establish one in Cali. THIS IS JUST AN IDEA one that someday I hope to do.

Why sleep in cabins when a hammock or tent will do the same? :P But seriously, I guess in WA cabins might be a little more appropriate.
Sounds great! Other people have had similar ideas, and I think that while these plans are viable, the hardest thing is getting started.

Here's to not knowing exactly what you're saying and having fun with it.

I agree with you completely I think the WA site would be like a beta for the california site, if I also think one in Hawaii would be awesome

What would be awesome is that if these summer camps work out, then try a international summer camp and have it in the Amazon rainforest, cause that almost the closest way make it seem like you are in a Pandora's forest. Just an idea.

I like the idea of a camp.

Now those are the kind of posts the help you have a good idea

You know, I was thinking, something that would not be that bad of an idea is a camping trip or something.  I live in Minnesota, and we have several state parks.  Some are quite isolated, away from civialization.

If we planned it properly, we could either reserve the entire park's campground (every site, both electric and non electric), which would get us anywhere from 20 to 50 sites.  Another option is some of these campgrounds have a "Group Camp" site, which is just a big clearing (anywhere from 10-20 acres or so) that you are free to set up as many tents/whatever we want.  I dont know how much a group site costs, but it could be an option.

This would also be a great way to get to meet eachother in person.  Setup a weekend (or longer) during the summer, get the address to everyone who would want to participate, and as far as I am aware, unlimited people could attend, so you don't have to stay for the entire reserved time.

What are people's thoughts on this?  Its not quite a vacation retreat, but it could be the start of one.  We could also do it like this for a while, but each year (or whenever we do this) do it at a different location.

That is a good thought, one of the major things (and i saw you put it in the) is that it is isolated, and I like your plan, I wanted to do some hiking and if it is allowed bow and arrow hunting there are sites in WA eastern and western that allow bow and arrow hunting but it is no isolated there are home scattered through out the area but you are on the right track.

They don't allow bow and arrow hunting, sadly.  After all, it is a public state park.

All we would really beable to do is meet eachother, spend a few nights in the "wild", hike through the woods on predetermined trails, and talk.

For a first gathering, that wouldn't be all that bad in my opinion?  Call it the Na'vi convention or the Na'vi Gathering.

I agree, it would not be that bad how ever calling it a convention I don't like because conventions have people trying to sell stuff or crap like that I like Na'vi get together or Na'vi Life Month or something that shows the point is to get in tune with Earth (or as the Na'vi might say get in tune with the great mother) and to get as close to Na'vi life (minus the worship of Eywa I'm Christian) as we can.

I don't think that this thread is any different than the summer camp thread. It's basically the same thing, except more people will be there. I don't know where anyone said anything about having to change religions. We're not trying to make a religious camp, and all camp/tribe activities won't have anything to do with religion. Unless respecting nature is a religion (which the Vatican thinks it is, apparently), you won't have to worry about that. I'm Christian, and like you, I'd like to remain so. But I have no problem with the tribe.

plus, you aren't forced to live there forever. The permanent tribe is more oriented towards people who want to stay thee longer than just a summer vacation. An idea i pitched was that maybe the summer camp could be at the same place as the permanent camp so there wouldn't be as much and needed and the cost wouldn't be larger, plus everything would be in good shape because there will be people there to take care of it during the off seasons.

I agree just like the perm. camp just with out the Eywa to Gaia religion stuff (so not to offend anyone) and with people to come take care of it it would be any escape from the modern world and to be who we are I believe that being forced into the modern world and having almost everything done for us by technology makes us less human and weakens us the Na'vi and our ancestors were in away more advanced than us, stronger more resourceful, and are able to see the the planets true beauty and they were much more healthy than we are today sure there were diseases but unlike humans of today who make there immune system reliant on chemicals and artificial treatments it is sown that even something like diabetes can be CURED by simply a life style change all organic not vegan or even vegetarian because the Na'vi ate meat I just thank it would be good for every one and away to sort of practice Na'vi life with out people looking at you like a loon believe me some people look at you strange when greet your girl friend with Oel ngati kameie.

I've never heard of larnvavi.org... what is it?

Also, that also sounds exactly like what the thread above is for.

Kaltxi,

when I started this thread that was what I had in mind but the retreat kind of thing I got from someone on the permanent Na'vi camp thread who was posting stuff about temp and said i should do a thread for sort of a temp camp or just plane get together and then it exploded into all of the above stuff in the thread.
