No, I've never heard of a translation like that.

Oh, ok. It just kind of sounded like that. No problem! :)

I'll probably translate my real life name in Na'vi when the dictionary is going to get bigger. Right now there's to much of a risk to guess a translation and it ending up wrong in the long run.

I got lucky with mine. Most of the words are already there so I can make the general meaning.

... I just looked up my name meaning.  It means "to protect" and my middle name means, "reborn"... kinda cool.  Considering my chosen line of work :]  So I'll think of a good translation for my name.

What about "Hawnu" for the first name... means to protect/shelter.  Perfect translation, srak?  Now for 'reborn' I was thinking "Slusìre"... "to become life"... but I'll probably wait for more vocab before I can that one properly ^^

Please PM me if you are still interested in the real Na'vi tribe.

I will probably have a go at finding a more concise version of my name, my first and second name mean something that approximates to "Defending man, descendant of the ancestors". Really need to compress that a bit :-\

Something along the lines of "Kìfkay Eyktan" then, if I got that correct.

My name's Donald, but I prefer Dominic. I entered my real name for a good meaning.

Atan Aylaru

My name meaning is "God is joy"; I think I'll stick with my forum name :)"Atan Aylaru" can be shortened to just "Atan" and still make sense.
"Hey!  Ngaru lu fpom srak?"
"What the heck is that?"
"It's uh, Na'vi, you know, from 'Avatar'."
"Sorry, I haven't seen that movie."

I think if we are going to have Na'vi names we should not choose our own the tribe should choose it

Why? That could end up with names like 'Dirtface'. Not a good idea.

I just think it would have more meaning if it is chosen based on who we are

If we choose our own name it wont have that much meaning or history behind it

just my opion

and why would it end up as dirt face if we end up as a group that gives people names like dirt face then im not joining

Well, we're building "history" for our names now. But I do understand where you're coming from.
