Our names within the tribe

I realize this is a pointless topic that doesn't further the tribe in any way at the moment, but I still figured it would be cool to discuss.

So what do you want your name to be once we've got the tribe together? Are you going to keep your real life name? Your profile name? Or something else altogether?

I personally don't really know yet. I don't think I'll stick with my real life name, but am not sure if 'Itan Atxur would be my chosen tribe name.

It depends with me. If we have enough foreign people to warrant the outright use of Na'vi exclusively (there aren't many right now from what i can see)i'll want a Na'vi name otherwise Hunter is fine with me.

The biggest problem with my Na'vi name is that everybody shortens it to 'Itan. And sorry, no, I'm not your son!!

The funny thing is that over the years I've had many MANY nicknames, none of which have bothered me (and I've had some pretty out there nicknames). But being called "son" by people younger than me in many cases is just, well, weird.

I would like to be called Uriuujìn when we are in the Tribe, but shortening it to Ury would also be acceptable ^_^

I preffer to just let the nicknames happen, that way I don't have to choose one and its also more legit. i.e. in the army u just get one by accident and it sticks

Also, your name isn't as much as a mouth full as some of the names we've all chosen.

hell people could call me alex or twonyu i really dont mind but it would be pretty cool to have a Na'Vi name and 'Itan Axtur remember Na'Vi doesnt have a word order so you could put your name the other way around if you wanted. it would still make sense ( i think)

-keep our real names
-keep our forum names
-get names in canoe trip based on who we are

I vote for the 1 and the last idea

I think that for the perm tribe members, having a Na'vi name would make sense, even if they aren't at the tribe the whole year.  That way it kinda rolls off the tongue when you are speaking in Na'vi, without having to switch back and forth.  That gets annoying, trust me.
Though, I do it all the time with my daughter.  We switch between English, Chinese, and Na'vi often.  So, who knows.
I just think it would be fun.  Of course, we all need to have proper documentation at the tribal site of our real names anyway.  This would just be in the family.

I found that a while ago, and thought, damn, that's sweet.  And so true.
Do you know how safe you feel even just being in the same room as an EMT or paramedic? [fyi, a medic is called an EMTP, so it still applies ;] ]  Or even a firefighter.  Mrow. ;]

On topic:  The laws are there for a reason!!!!!  If we didn't have documentation, then things would get hairy fast if someone came a-knocking, even an illness.  Even for just a visit, everyone needs to make sure they have at least one ID on them.  Preferably a driver's license ^^  But no one really needs to know everyone's real names, their given names... its just their preference.

I think the idea of a Na'vi name is good but we should not just give up our origanal names that would be disrespectful to our parents so I think our Na'vi name should be more like a nick name sorta thing or a middle name which we use often
