Haha I don't mean genetically or anything but after watching the film for the second time, when I watch the Na'vi move swiftly through pandora barefooted, leaping between trees and climbing huge ledges, I think, damn I wish I could do that! They have superior strength, agility, speed and skilled huntsmanship with a bow and arrow. And I think, whats to stop me from becoming like the Na'vi, in terms of this?

It has motivated me to become exceptionally fit and to learn how to craft bows and arrows and shoot with them. Its been my dream since I was little to live in a forest or jungle, living on the nature around us and hunting, living in a tribe or alone. It would make a nice change from having to worry about money, work and everyday drama.

One day  :P

Becoming a hermit would be kinda fun (not the stereotypical kind) cause then you could cause a bunch of rumors and stuff about ghosts :P

+1 karma for being awesome, Tawioang

And also:  It would be pretty awesome.  Might want to work on balance.  They have exceptional balance [tail!] and they do walk and move so smoothly and swiftly.  Something that we have lost with the couch-potato era.
I can't wait for spring and summer again.  Being stuck inside is AWFUL!

Txontaw: lol.  Truth.

Thanks ^^

Jake makes a point in the film, "My feet are getting stronger." I learnt somewhere that if you go barefooted on tough terrain, your feet will become stronger. Apparently you have an increased risk of injury running with running shoes, I also feel you have more control barefooted, you don't or hardly use your heels as much as if you we're relying on shoes, using your heels absorbs shock impact worse than the top end of your feet, notice you don't land floot footed onto your heels when you jump off something, or if you do, it hurts.

Srane, when you do anything that kind of constantly wears down your skin, it develops calluses, which is thick tough skin. It happens to guitar players too, with their hand, from holding down chords.

I used to have big foot calluses, but then I got a computer, and the rest is history.

It's a possibility to mimic certain aspects of Na'vi. If you really want to live in the jungle/forest though. You'll need to develop a much different mindset than you have now. Hate to say it, but most cultures that live in such manners learn what works and what doesn't by fear and death. The military also use the same process, minus the death. They want to create fear so that their recruits get used to it and will understand how to survive when the real thing happens. Something you might have to put yourself through.

Definitely look up survival schools as well. They are plenty of programs dedicated to surviving and living in the jungle/forest affectively.

I still have good calluses on my feet.  I'm either in boots [have to for work] or barefoot, like at home.

Reronsem makes a good point.  If you're serious and want to survive in a jungle/forest, you need to learn.  And that's not just reading things online.  That's going out and practicing.  Start with camping [if you haven't already] in an actual campground then in a forest.  Make sure you have another person with you, for safety.  Also, bring a first aid kit or someone trained in it. [Sorry, I'm training to be an EMT... gotta have responsibility]  Make sure you have something to defend yourself with, and yes, SURVIVAL SCHOOLS ARE AWESOME.  Or just classes.  Anything will benefit you.

And, if you are interested in starting a tribe, I'm sure some people around here will be game. *doesn't point at self*

Where would we be a tribe, though? Somewhere with relatively low danger, but plenty of forest to move around in.

I mean, if someone had some land we could live on, or perhaps we could all save up and but a big wooded area.  Saving the environment as well as living our fantasy. :]

Imagine if we found... "One hell of a tree".

Txontaw

That would be awesome! We could all live in the redwoods. :P

This... is a great idea.
Let's all play the lotto, save up and stuffs.
Then when we're all properly trained, we'll go and buy some land.
I'll be the medic.

I've thought of this since first seeing Avatar. After we get our tribe set up we can "not kidnap" Frommer and "not put him in a cell" so he can make words for us.   ;)

Hehe... We should totally do that, and then learn Na'vi well enough, and live there for enough generations so that we actually create a new tribe with the values and language of the Na'vi.

Also, my role in the tribe would probably be like, teacher or something along those lines, since I am an artist.

If only there was some way to get super strong bones into the human Na'vi tribe gene pool...

Mayhaps he can teach you his ways??  That would be amazingly helpful.

"Not kidnapping" Frommer... yes.  Though, by then I would hope a dictionary would be out... lol.

As for the bones... I'm sure we would adapt ;]

I think this guy fits "trust your body" part...

Parkur
Where is my NDD fix?

I actually had a conversation about this earlier with someone else. the subject of Parkour did come up, and I think it would be a great way to train your body. The entire point of Parkour is to overcome obstacles as fluidly and efficiently as possible. There's no weightlifting, no working out. All the muscle you build is from practical use. While you won't get ripped or anything, your body will gradually become leaner and more agile. While you will develop muscle, it's good muscle, not bodybuilder muscle. I'm still thinking over other aspects of being more like a Na'vi other than in motion, but I don't know.

Here's to not knowing exactly what you're saying and having fun with it.
