I'm attempting to write the next installment of my fanfic, I could do with a sentence niNa'vi, but I'm out of my depth.

This is what I've got so far .....

"Kaltxi ma Ralu, ma Carlo, oel fìswiräti [disappoint]." said the Austrian accent, before turning to the stunned Secfor trooper "Ngaytxoa, ngaya leam'ake eyawr ke."

Is there a direct/close translation for 'disappoint', and how is this overall?

"Kaltxì ma Ralu. Ma Carlo, nga lu leyewla." = Hello o Ralu. O Carlo, you are disappointing.* (I guess you want to say "Carlo, I'm dissapointed" [about Ralu?], right?)
"Ngaytxoa, ngeyä *tìam'ake ke lu eyawr." = Sorry, your confidence* isn't true. (If you attempt to say that)

I'll explain the scene, I had hoped to avoid too many spoilers.

There's a fierce battle raging, there's a rout, and several Secfor trooper make a run for it, this one guy trips,  falls and rolls in behind a tree, but he's not as far in front of the Na'vi and their allies as he thinks. He's captured, just as it looks bad somebody who should be a Secfor ally walks up, unnoticed by Ralu and Carlo. Just as the captured RDA trooper thinks he's about to be freed, the above sentence is delivered.

This is the English version of what I was trying to say in Na'vi.

"Hello Ralu, Carlo, I'm going to disappoint him." (me him disappoint)
Then to the captured trooper .....
"My apologies, your confidence is misplaced."

[Plumps]

"Hello Ralu, Carlo, I'm going to disappoint him." (me him disappoint)
Then to the captured trooper .....
"My apologies, your confidence is misplaced."

That's the best I can come up with.

Kaltxì, ma Ralu, ma Karlo, lìyu poru/poanur yewla (talun oe).
-- Hello, Ralu, Carlo, he is going to be disappointed (because of me).
Tsap'alute, fwa nga 'ef(ats)u am'ake lu fe'/keyawr.
-- Apologies, that you feel confident is wrong/incorrect.

There is not really a direct translation of 'to disappoint someone'. You could go for

Kem leyewla sìyi oe poru.
-- I'm going to do a disappointing action to him.

after the example of

Kea kem leyewla rä'ä si, rutxe.
'Please don't let me down.'

In Na'vi, the idea of disappointment is a noun that you have. You say things like "I have disappoinment" instead of "I'm disappointed" And "I have the he-can't-come disappoinment" / "I have the disappointment that he can't come." instead of "I'm disappointed (that) he can't come."

So

Kaltxì ma Ralu, (ma) Carlo. Fìswiräru lìyu yewla.

And there is currently no noun which means confidence. We only have the adjective confident and the adverb confidently. So to get around that, I'll say "It's a mistake that you feel confident.":

Fwa nga 'efu am'ake lu kxeyey.

Can I clarify something, is the prefix 'ti-' valid, my notes go back to 2010 and there's been so many developments since then.
And yes I did mean to write tiam'ake rather than leam'ake, I should maybe check my notes more.

Adverbs describes verbs, adjectives, another adverbs but no nouns

tì- makes usually abtract nouns (but it is not productive).

Adverbs: quickly, perfectly, very, sadly, literally, simply, almost, somewhat

Abstract nouns: beauty, perfection, friendship, insanity, democracy, bravery, courage, jealosy, sensitivity

You can kind of get a sense of how these words are related/similar and what not.

What Tìtstewan said; Tì- is valid, but you are not exactly free to use it whenever, even if it kinda make sense. Easier to keep track of things and stay consistent that way. Words which start with tì- are all in the dictionary for you. (more to come as the language grows, of course.)

Countless examples have left me none the wiser. When I say I suck at this, I'm in no way exaggerating.
I look at examples, and see disparate words that some academic has forcibly pigeonholed in an attempt to conjure a science from what (to me at least) is a black art.
The examples above have more reasonable grouping than many example set's I've seen in the past, but still, when I've felt I understood previously, I very quickly discover that I haven't.

This, I believe, is because English is such a rubbish language. Stupidly complicated. It then starts to make every other thing and language complicated if you use it to talk about them.

Ma Archaic, you are not alone. I find myself looking up parts-of-speech as often or more often than definitions for words. I am finding the best way to learn the language is to use it as much as I can.
