Today I was translating the sentence:

I think that he told us this thing that is not good - Fpìl oel futa futa pol ayoeru poleng a ke lu sìltsan.

But there is a double futa, and I don't think this is very correct... I thought "maybe I can replace the second 'futa' and write 'fì'ut a', but it contracts into 'futa'".

Another sentence:

I think that this thing he told us that is not good - Fpìl oel futa futa a pol ayoeru poleng ke lu sìltsan.

Same thing here?

So, besides this doubt, I have another doubt...

How do the Na'vi people know if "futa" is a "connector" or if it means "this thing that"?

I think these sentences in Na'vi would be:

Fpìl oel futa po poleng awngar futa tsaw ke lu sìltsan.

or even stylistically better:

Fpìl oel futa po poleng awngar san tsaw ke lu sìltsan.

And the second:

Fpìl oel futa poltxe po awngar a fì'u ke lu sìltsan.

I see nothing strange here :)

Double futa means double a only. Nothing wrong..

Buit my translation of the first sentence you wrote is:

I think that he told us that this/that is not good.

And that's not what I mean...

Besides, as "peng" is transitive, shouldn't the po have an agentive marker?

Edit:
What I mean is: I think that this thing that he told us is not good - i.e. I told us something and, as for the thing he told us, I think it is not good.
