Hello guys, i`m new to this forum, and as the others i want to study and learn the Na`vi language. The problem is, you may call me an skxawng every single time you talk to me, but i am very confused. I downloaded the vocabulary, the document with all the definitions and stuff, but i`m still very confused and i can`t catch anything to remember. I studied the document all day, and i could not catch anything. I simply learned some phrases but just by reading them. I`m rlly into this and i want to learn, so please, if any1 wants to help me, help.

Lets say i`m "just a baby with a brave heart" willing to throw itself into this world for good. I require the basics... how do i succeed ? i want to be like the rest of you guys :)

I was quite daunted at first too, for one I'm am not a linguist and so suggest you do the same: make sure you understand all the vocabulary, for it is quite vast and unique. Wikia all the words you don't understand, or have little understanding of. Vocabulary such as intransitive clause, ergative suffix, tripartite system, lenition. I've spent the past 2 days and many house analyzing the guide, trying to fully understand the meaning of their explanation, and finally applying that to what i understand of Na'vi.

I also recommend you typing up notes with simplified explanations in your own words, or for both quick referencing important aspects and memorization.

Another tip would be to try to compose your own sentences, then go through the various rules and see if they all apply correctly, fixing as needed. (this is where i am at)

Kaltxì ma Executor.

I am fairly new to this as well, linguistics and all. As Motxokxen suggested, look up the linguistic terms to find out exactly what everything refers to... it will really help. As well, take a look at this.

I hope it helps some. It is part of my quest to crack the grammatical structure of Na'vi. Once you figure out how the prefixes and suffixes work to make words topical or genetive, it should be much simpler to learn.

One good way i've found out(at least for me) to learn a language is to write and translate it, it's hard at first and evern harder when you don't have someone to correct you. You just have to do it over and over. Taking notes is also a good thing, helps you memorise the different aspects of the language. It indeed is daunting to start without a clear instruction set, so if you feel like it, compile your own as you learn. I'm doing it now and it's not easy or fast but it gets me where i'm going.

Just remember: slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

Hmmm, thnx guys for the advice, il start as soon as i can with writing simple phrases, and after translating them. I downloaded a compendium made by a guy here, i think that would help me also... i hope.
