I've been trying to figure out this language for a couple of days now, looking through the glossery, grammar and phonics links on the hometree page and it's really hard for me. Is there any tips you guys could share with me in learning this, maybe there is something I'm just missing! I'd really appriciate your help, I want to learn this language like crazy and I'm looking forward to speaking it with you all soon (hopefully) [:

Yeah. The trick is to talk to people, and above all, try and create your own sentances.

There are worksheets in the intermediate forum which are useful for some of the cases. The single best way to learn the language on this forums that I found is to go on the Skype or IRC chatrooms, or to repeatedly post single sentances or stories you create from the vocab on the forums.

The key to learning any language, even a semi-alien language, is repetition and practice. You could be masterful at the grammar, but if you never spoke with anyone it's going to sound like a trainwreck. Inversely, you can't make sentences without a strong foundation.

I've been at this for two weeks and I'm still working on the grammar. But that's okay, I'm not expecting myself to be an expert anytime soon. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. It just takes time is all I'm saying. Read around this forum, and I also found the pdf documents on the main site to be extremely helpful.

Moreover, tune into the group chat every now and then. Pick out some Na'vi friends to your msn/skype/aim or whatnot and compare what you know, and help each other. You are in the midst of a learning nucleus here, so start learning and exploring!

I think the last thing I need to point out is that this language is not complete yet. It's a work in progress, and even the language majors here will admit that there's too many 'what-ifs' in this language before you can really begin to be a competant Na'vi speaker. But if you do what I said in the above, you'll be on speed with everyone else.

Take care :)
