lu = existence in general sense?

Is it possible to use lu with only one noun, to mean it exists (or not)? For example, when saying that the server is not available, I'm currently using:

lusìma eltu lefngap ke lu

= Far-away computer doesn't exist.

Is this correct?

I believe so. Early on, when Frommer responded to Prrton's comment to the languagelog post saying he didn't think there was anyone who could speak na'vi like that at this stage, which is a similar usage, he used lu.

Ah, good - I've used that quite a few times now and wouldn't've wanted to have to change them all :P

If Na'vi has a word for available (has no dictionary open right now), it might work better, because the server exist in fact even though it is not available.
