Is the verb spaw transitive or not? What is the object? I just don't know how to use it. Are these sentences correct?

I can't believe you told this!
Ke spaw oel futa poleng ngal tsat!

I believe you.
Oe ngaru spaw.

Believe in it!
Spivaw tsat! / Tsari spivaw!

Don't trust him!
Rä'ä spaw por!

Oer wivìntxu ngal oey keyeyt krr a tse'a sat. Frakrr.

Are you familiar with our wiki Vocabulary?  In it I try to not just give words and definitions, but examples of use, with a citation for where the example comes from.

We have two examples of Frommer using the patientive with spaw for the person.  So I doubt the dative forms are correct.

I'm not sure how to use it with a subordinate clause, though your futa example may be ok.

In English, at least "believe" and "believe in" are quite different things.

Honestly speaking, I wasn't. Thank you :).

Now I see.

Now I'm afraid they are wrong. Akkusative is used for persons here as we know. Hence, we lack the way of saying 'believe that', don't we?

But still they are somehow connected. Maybe there is some construction in Na'vi that we don't know yet.

There's no particular reason that spaw would have to take a different construction for believing people vs. things.  We don't distinguish, say, tse'a, for that.  Of course, it might, but we haven't seen such a pattern in Na'vi so far.

Only by two syllables. There's no real reason that na'vi would have that same link between the two verbs.

"Believe in" is completely Christian notion.  The phrase goes all the way back to an ancient Greek phrasing.  I wouldn't expect a perfect match for that idea.

Using futa would cause some problems if we used this with person as well. But I made up sth like this:

I can't believe you told this!
Furia ngal poleng tsat, oel ngati ke spaw.

What do you think about it?

I don't think the ngati would be explicit, but other than that, it seems quite a good way of saying "X believes that".
