A good lesson. I invented the discussion, but the explanations are TRUE.

Me: Kaltxì ma smukan sì smuke! How do you say Welcome in Na'vi?
Everyone: Zola'u nìprrte'.
Me: Yes, BUT see first Na'viteri. We write Ziva'u nìprrte at the top right.
A random dude: But which is the right one?
Me: Both. I think we should prefer Ziva'u nìprrte. I say that, but everyone has an opinion!
A good person: Do not make so much confusion.
Me: No, I don't. We have to decide together.

One of <iv>'s many uses is to also to give commands. For example, in the film when Tsu'tey is leading Jake and the other young Na'vi up Iknimaya and he tells them to jump to the vine he says "kivä ko!"

... which isn't quite directly a command but a firm suggestion given context?

But yeah, you're right; the difference here is the <ol> one is a statement of fact almost, and the <iv> one is more or less a command that has <iv> in it.

Suggestion then.

A time ago <iv> in command was understood as a (more) polite command, but it is not rule at this time. Still it is used this way.
but:
(nga) kivä - is command to another person (go!)
kivä ko - is encouragement to group of people (let's go!)
