If I wanted to say 'With love, from Kalika' in NAʼvi, there are a couple ways to do it. I am interested to see what others thing about which way has the closest meaning to the meaning of this statement.

Hu tìyawn, ta Kalika - This is the obvious one, as it is the most literal.
Fa tìyawn, ta Kalika - This one might seem a little strange. But what it says is that 'it is by the empowerment of love, I give this to you'.

This is a for a little tag I intend to attach to images of her huge pawprints I hope to display and give out.

I'd go with fa ...

sounds/feels better to me. :-\

I would say that both could work in certain context. But I do feel there is a difference in the meenings.
Hu tìyawn, ta Kalika - With (accompaniment) love, by Kalika / (Together) with love, by Kalika. - if one - for example - got a present, letter or something and say that.
Fa tìyawn, ta Kalika - With (help by) love, by Kalika / By means of love, by Kalika. - if one actively helped someone
For me, the use of fa is very cognate with the instrumental case of some languages, and therefore it feel interesting (for me) to use fa in that sentence. Anyway, I could be wrong on this. :)

I also think this  :)

(and version with fa sounds better for me)

I also agree that in this case, fa works better. :)

As for me, I have always feeling that hu is more for people/living things and fa is more for inanimate objects/abstract ideas.

So, I'd go with fa in this case but I can be wrong.

Interesting. I've never heard that argument, but I suppose it makes a little sense as a rule of thumb.. However, If I wanted to say "I'm sitting here with my hunting gear", I would use hu since I'm not using the hunting gear in order to sit here, I'm just sitting here in the same place as it. Just because the hunting stuff is not alive, doesn't mean hu is out and fa should be used, because of the meaning of hu and fa in and of themselves.

Hmm ... really interesting, but also I never heard this  :-\

hu works also for other stuff. And fa works also with living things like: Oer sunu fwa tswayon fa ikran. :)

I've read around and the meaning of the phrase "with love from X" is interesting. It would be interesting to know, in which contect one would say fa tìyawn ta X, because one could misunderstand it as "one did Y with (by actual using/help of) love from X". Hmm :-\ :-\

Irayo nìtxan, ma frapo!

I feel, too that fa is better in this case, because Kalika was (or is, if you believe, like me, she has a spirit!) a very loving cat, and looked for every opportunity to be your friend. I will go with that!

I'm having her grave marker made this week, and it will contain some Na'vi as well :)  :palulukan:

I remember I had exactly same question some time ago, my idea was to use hu, others proposed fa. IMHO solution depends on point of view, both can be acceptable - if you are able to justify your idea :)
Generally, hu/fa has nothing common with livings/inanimates. Hu is for accompaniment - somebody goes with you (living)/ you bring something (object, tangible thing) with you etc. Fa means "with help of" - you use something like tool. IMHO both could be possible here, but as love is something abstract - not real thing, it is hard to use it with hu. Today I prefer fa too.

This is one of the challenges of language, to convey meaning, especially in situations like this that involve feeling, emotions, etc.

In most other areas, I seem to not be able to 'feel' very well and tend to translate too literally. If there were instruction manuals written in Na'vi needed, I could probably write very good ones ;)
