Couple website-related questions

I didn't see anything about these in the recent topics. I am trying to change my profile picture to something other than the preloaded pics on the website, but nothing happens when I select either "I have my own photo" or "Upload From Library" buttons. I try again and again, but none of the pics I select show up. Any suggestions?

Also, how do I add pictures to my signature? I've tried the [url][ /url] thing but that didn't work. That's all I know how to do. Yes, I am a noob, I know. Now that we've established that, can anyone help me with either of these things? I would greatly appreciate it!

• For the "I have my own photo" option, your image must be hosted on a remote site such as Photobucket or Imageshack.  Once you've done that, find the image URL, copy it, and paste it into the space for that option.  Make sure to hit "Change Profile", as this will save the changes!
• For the "Upload From Library" option, you should try the "browse" button to find your files.  Once the filename is in, hit "Change Profile", as this will save the changes!
• If this doesn't help, then I'm not sure what will...

...and sadly, the forum may be a tad buggy in this circumstance (not LN's fault)...

Also, how do I add pictures to my signature? I've tried the [url][/url] thing but that didn't work. That's all I know how to do. Yes, I am a noob, I know. Now that we've established that, can anyone help me with either of these things? I would greatly appreciate it!

Simply use the [img][/img] tags with the full image URL instead

I always use the "browse" button. I select the image I want and the forum page shows that I have selected it, but when I hit "change profile" no pic shows up. It's really weird.

Kräp. Well I guess there's no way around having to create another account on some website. I don't like having tons of accounts on all kinds of websites because I loose track of them and/or forget passwords. But if it's gotta be done it's gotta be done. Irayo

Also, something to keep in mind: you might want to try and keep the images within 100x100 pixels.  The site tends to reject anything much bigger...

If your image is larger than that, you could try re-sizing it before uploading it to an image hosting site.

I used to think that too, but now it's different for sigs at least (don't know about profile pics). I put a 1600x2163 image in my sig and it shrank it for me.

I ran into the profile pic uploading problem as well, and I was able to get around it by uploading my picture to my gallery here on LN, and then using the URL of the picture.  That way the image is here on LN, and I don't have the hassle of creating an account on some other site.

I think these are the steps I took:

Go to "Gallery"
Go to "My Albums"
Create an album if you don't already have one
Upload your picture to an album
Go the image page
Copy the URL from the "Direct Link" line
Paste the URL in the "I have my own pic" section of your profile configuration page.

Voilà!
