Hmm I am using Windows 7 with Google Chrome also

Try running a virus scan

Mrrvomun

An automatic (full) virus scan has recently (this week) been run on my computer, with no threats detected.  And with this number of people affected, I doubt it would be due to a virus.  (And just so you all know, my computer hasn't had a bluescreen in over 4 mos, with this exception.  So it's a pretty 'clean slate', if you ask me  ;))

But, seriously, there's absolutely nothing that can be done on your end?  Clearly, if the problem only happens with this site, there's something different here that can be changed so as to not 'exploit' this bug.  (And I doubt the root of the issue is italic Papyrus...)  Trust me, I know how hard it is to fiddle with a well-oiled machine without destroying it, so I understand your hesitance and unwillingness to try said fiddling.  And I also know how hard it is to deal with end-users who think they are always right (which is why I'm editing and re-editing this post to make it as non-condescending as possible  ;D).  So I won't do any more pushing for a fix here.

I couldn't find the aforementioned ticket in the Chromium issues log, so I've made a new one here:  http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=41400.  Maybe that'll get Google's attention.

Anyone else that has this problem and wants it fixed is implored to make a quick comment on that bug report (or point me in the direction of the other bug report for this issue).

And with that, I'm gone from this thread (until something significant happens with this issue, of course  ;D)!

Ok...I know I said I wouldn't come back, but this is important...

I uninstalled Papyrus Normal and the problem is gone (though the main page has a REALLY ugly font in place of Papyrus).  Can anyone else with the problem try this and report back with their results?

Ok, now I'm going away again  ;)

Don't rush off. You may be on to something.

I will be very interested to see if this can be replicated by another member.

okay i played it safe....
now on firefox.
Only mostly AWOL.

Hikyuuri

My system never bluescreened with chrome on the LN website, however, the fonts in the title are a little weird.

What I mean is that in Firefox, the tital appears as "Kaltxi!  Welcome to Learn Na'vi" But in Chrome, it appears as "      !                Learn          ".  I leave the spaces in there because if you click and drag as if trying to select text, the spaces are there, but the letters are not.

Not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but wanted to point it out.

P.S.  If im not clear, I can take a screenshot so you can see what I am saying.

That's precisely what happens to me seconds before it bluescreens.  Alright, so you're one person who has the font problem without the bluescreen, interesting.

Do you have Papyrus installed?  Check your fonts folder.  And what OS are you running?

If you need any help with checking the fonts, you can PM me for instructions.

I do have Papyrus Regular installed.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit for my OS.

P.S., I am running Windows 7 64 Bit on both my laptop and desktop, both with Chrome, and both have no problems with www.learnnavi.org (Besides the missing fonts mentioned before).

Thanks for the info.

So, it seems like we know so far that 32 bit computers running 7 can have the font issue with the bluescreen, and 64 bit computers can have the font problem without bluescreening.  Also, it can sometimes be fixed by uninstalling Papyrus.  Can anyone else support or reject these claims?

And by the way, Hikyuuri, those are two incredible setups!  I desperately need a graphics card, but I have a laptop... :(

Well I may have found a fix I have tried multiple things

I am running Windows 7 ultimate with Google Chrome, this seems to be an issue with all versions of Chrome

1. Chrome crashed 3 times on the LearnNavi.org

2. I tried running as Administator, I crashed

3. I went into Safemode with Networking, ran as Administator and I crashed

4. I went into the Fonts folder and deleted Papyrus Regular and for good measure ran Chrome in Administrator, It worked

5. I ran Chrome regularly with Papyrus Regular deleted and it worked.

Somebody should Contact Google and tell them that Papyrus Regular font and Google Chrome don't mix.

Hikyuuri

Again though, this problem only appears to affect select people.  I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and use Chrome, and so far I havn't had any problems.

To people who are not having problems or do not use chrome don't go deleting stuff.  If it works, don't mess with it.

Good luck to the people who are having problems!

I also have the problem of visiting the LearnNavi site and getting the dreaded BSOD. Very odd that it seems to only affect the 32 bit Win 7 users, as I am using a 32 bit version of Win 7. I have a suggestion for the people that want to see if it's the font without actually deleting the file. Just go into the properties and add the .bak extension, you may have to go into your folder options and uncheck the hide common extensions option. Hoping for a solution someday.

Still happens in Google Chrome 7.0.517.41 (Windows 7, 32 bit)

Made a small video for the people who're not getting BSODs: Google Chrome BSOD issue (LearnNavi.org)

Ya, it only occurs on Windows 7, 32 bit.

A simple fix would be to remove papyrus from the style.css

I'll install Chrome stable and see what happens.
