Is there anyone here good enough with photoshop to take a picture of someone and do a split image picture? Such as half original human face, half Na'vi face? Not looking for perfection, since the image will be so small, and i doubt i would be the only one interested. They would make awesome forum avatars.

I believe so. While I am retired now and my software is a bit out of date, I do have Photoshop, Painter, and Poser (not to mention some 3-D modeling software).

PM me with an idea of what you're looking for. Ah, I think that I might be able to work/modify a sketch/caricature of your face as well.

This is what we would call a necropost.  The message you quoted was from the first day this forum was created, you can't get much older than that.  And the person you quoted is not even active on the forums anymore.  Please do not necropost, let the old threads die with some dignity...

I thank you. But several things occur to me...

• As is my habit when joining a new board, I search out and read the FAQ and rules for posting. As I could not find a FAQ, I just did as Search for the term, "necropost." I got only 1 result - yours.

• So, just what is the official definition of "necropost"? The last post prior to mine was dated Feb 10, 2010 and at that  time, there were still people interested in the subject of doing avatars. If this thread is closed, why hasn't it been marked as "closed" by the moderators?

• I posted because, while I don't yet have sufficient posts to rate an avatar (and my usual one wouldn't quite be appropriate here, IMO), I am interested in learning how to do Avatar themed logos and other art, and thought that others might still be interested as well.

• And you are obviously interested enough to check for and read recent posts, eh?

And so. I apologise to you and anyone else who might have been disturbed or offended by my "necroposting".

I will repost with a simple offer of assistance without quoting any prior posts.

I think the search function must not be functioning properly, I know necroposting has been discussed quite a few times in the past.  I am also surprised to find that there was no mentioning of necroposting in the Rules And Policies sections.  This needs to be addressed.

Necroposting is usually when someone posts something in a thread that has been dead for a long time.  There are a few exceptions, mainly if the post is adding something meaningful to the discussion.  If you would have posted your response with the last post in the thread being only a month or two old, it probably would not be considered necroposting, but when the thread is 10 months old, its almost always considered necroposting.  We also don't auto lock threads, we use a warning system that shows up if someone tries to post in a thread that is more than 10 days old.

Check out the Fan Art section of the forum.  That is the best place for you to go to discuss and learn about Avatar related art.  I'm pretty sure this thread lived before the fan art section was created, which is why it was never moved over there.

I'm one of the few that has been here since the beginning.

Given that I can't easily find guidelines about necroposting, I assumed they were there somewhere but I sure can't find them, I wouldn't worry too much about it.  Just don't post in threads that are 10 months old without a really good reason to do so.

Please do continue to quote a prior post, not doing so can create even more confusion.

The only thing I have left to say to you is Kaltxì and welcome to the community.   We're glad you are here.  Irayo for letting us know about the lack of info in the Rules and Policies section.  We'll try to get that update ASAP.

Korasho and thank you.

I did find the "necroposting" advisory in the "Introduction" forum (and I've posted my intro). And I'll gin up some suggestions and post them in the appropriate forum.

And perhaps we should take this to PMs, as it has gotten OT, eh?  :)

Bright Blessings,
Jim

15 days now until the "necropost" barrier is hit.
