I can confirm that the client works again, if Java works :)

(Now the only issue is that it is so quiet there ;) )

Tìtstewan

Ah, works. but,
http://irc.learnnavi.org/ link doesn't work
http://www.irc.learnnavi.org/ link works
::)

Now, I have to find out, how I can convince Java to work...

Also:
irc://irc.learnnavi.org/
Basically link work if You have installed IRC client (I have ChatZilla plugin for FireFox) and configured browser to redirect link to client (like mailto: location to mail client),
but i know that some browsers may redirect link to specified online IRC client or have build-in another IRC client.

Yeah, I see that the first link without www won't work in FF, but plugins.

...
So, Java makes me cry... >:(

Perhaps you can better use a stand-alone IRC client... may be a lot easier ::) ;)

But wait. IRC need socket connection that is impossible to make from browser.
For make sockets can use Java, separate client or server with ajax front-end.
On LN same server host forum, TS and IRC. If We can make bridge IRC-TS, why not set up IRC client on server side and simple web interface between web server and user?

EDIT:
If We found good system for do that, probably shoutbox can be one of IRC channels and web interface just have extra feature - hold and show few last messages.

I installed ChatZilla on FireFox. IT works.
Java is a pain...

irc.learnnavi.org does not point to a Web server, so won't get get a wwwresponse on that host name.

Sorry, my bad. :-X I thought it would work by auto adding 'www'. :-[
Unfortunately, Java won't work with me. I have to find out, where I can change the settings for the security on FireFox or Windows regarding Java stuff.
However, I fixed it by using ChatZilla Plug-in for FF, there it works fine. :)

Tree of Souls uses a Flash based IRC web page. What's worse: Java applets or Flash objects? Is there any such thing yet as an HTML5 IRC embedded thingy?

Toruk Makto

Haven't seen one.

Note that 'webirc.learnnavi.org'  points to the info and Kiwi app page and 'irc.learnnavi.org'  resolves to the irc server ip address for external irc clients.

Both. Flash is slow and Java has security problems...

I get this: (sorry for german)

I found this: KiwiIRC, which may be able to replace the Java chat widget. It uses no Java or Flash at all (only HTML5 / JavaScript) and it is able to connect to irc.learnnavi.org just fine, and seems to work very nicely. Also, it looks beautiful :)

It says here that one can easily embed this client into any webpage by using an iframe. For example, like this:

<iframe src="https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.learnnavi.org/#na'vi" style="border:0; width:100%; height:450px;"></iframe>

I think it would be quite nice to remove the Java widget, since so many people have issues with it, and replace it by this one... :)

Edit: it seems to have an encoding issue though, ä and ì are replaced by question mark signs... Which encoding does irc.learnnavi.org use? UTF-8?
Edit 2: ignore previous edit, it works fine now :P

Toruk Makto

Replaced Java with KiwiIRC. Thanks for the suggestion!

No problem if I use the IRC plug-in. :) Txantsan!

Yeah, the UTF-8 thing is odd, but I don't know how to fix that yet. Still checking.
