Yeah, that was pretty much the murder face I had on at 1:30am Wednesday night at the Dallas co-lo when I was doing the forensics to try to definitively determine there was a midplane overclock issue. Fortunately I was the only one there and didn't have the cops called on me or something.

These server down times aren't amusing at all... when they repeat too often. Although it has some advantages (I had time to read another few chapters of book I started to read a few months before), I prefer to run without outages

To me it didn't look like that there was any data loss. My NotW closure posting was one of the last posts afaik and it's still there and so on.

I don't believe there was any data lost. We're on a pretty aggressive backup schedule and I was able to pull a final incremental before the hardware reconfigure.

Irayo nìtxan, ma Marki and Athdavrasar, zhey Marki for getting this working again. I saw the Dothraki side came up before the Na'vi side, and both kiwi's were up Friday midday. I won't have a chance to check the dictionary backend until I am in Chicago tomorrow.

I'm curious to know if you have any theory on why it worked as long as it did.

You know, that is a very good question, and one that has me scratching my head a bit. The only thing I can come up with is that as long as it was running it was ok, but when the power flipped the first time, the whole thing got shaky as it went through rebuilding the mirror of the RAID 1 and the errors got too bad for the CRCs to correct. 

Or it could have been some aysyaksyuk got into the facility and peed on the equipment. I dunno.
