You know, that is a very good question, and one that has me scratching my head a bit. The only thing I can come up with is that as long as it was running it was ok, but when the power flipped the first time, the whole thing got shaky as it went through rebuilding the mirror of the RAID 1 and the errors got too bad for the CRCs to correct. 

Or it could have been some aysyaksyuk got into the facility and peed on the equipment. I dunno.

A RAID rebuild would certainly stress the system a lot more than normal operation. I have seen bizarre system behavior like this myself, that only showed its ugly head when you 'pushed' the system.

I have pertty much confirmed no data was lost on the Dothraki side of the system 

I have worked on equipment that has been pee'd on (A stereo receiver from a bar). Marki might be interested to know that I was having solder joints explode on me when I tried to heat them. It must have been the nitrogen compounds in the urine. In any case, it was quite corrosive to solder.
