Hi everyone,

My name is Clement and I am a Swiss journalist based in New York. I work for a magazine published in Switzerland.

I am writing to you today, because I am working on an article about conlang speakers. I am looking for Na'vi or Dothraki speakers (experts or beginners) to interview either by phone or in person in the New York area. I am myself an avid fan of Avatar and Game of Thrones, and I would love to talk with you!

Would anyone be interested? If so, please contact me by email: [email protected]

Thanks a lot,
Clement

Should I translate your post into German to post it in the German section of this Forum, so maybe more interested members can contact you?

Thanks for the answer, yes that would be great. The best would be to meet people in New York. German people living in New York are more than welcome!

I've posted it here in the German section. ;)

This sounds really interesting! I just speak for me, I'm not sure if I could do this... I guess, I have to speak English there and this will beat me. :o
I will keep it free for other members. :)

Kaltxì/M'athchomaroon ma/zhey ClementB!

I'm not in New York City, or anywhere nearby, but I speak both Na'vi and Dothraki. Not a beginner or an expert at either, but active in both communities. You might consider also posting this request on the forums at www.dothraki.org

Oel kameie ayngati! Sounds like a great idea! Are you writing just about Na'vi and Doutraki? Or other conlangs too? You know Esperanto, Ido and those languages too.. I'm very pleased with Na'vi and just have take a quick look on Doutraki.. And no, I'm not familar with Games of thrones, just heard about it. Kìyevame ulte Eywa ayngahu
Varför minns jag alla dåliga vitsar, men glömmer alla infix i Na'vi?? ???
Why do I remember all bad jokes, but forget all the infixes in Na'vi?? :-[

Kaltxì ma Lance R. Casey!
Oel kameie ngati! I'm sorry, that I haven't heard so much on Klingon, but there was some guy on Swedish TV that spoked a little and it sounded quite hard to learn. IMHO I think Na'vi is tough to learn, but not that tough that's impossible.. And that was also one thing James told Karyu Pawl that it should be possible to learn and speak.
Yes, I have tried to learn Esperanto, but get stuck in the 2nd or 3rd chapter in the course book every time I try to learn it again. Maybe, I'm a better student now or that I learn in a different manner, but it's easier and more fun with Na'vi. Kìyevame ulte Eywa ngahu Il Sogno Viandante

If interview by PM/mail is possible, I can participate too. Use address from my profile.

Ftiafpi

If you can contact me in the evening (7:30 PM onward) I can participate in a phone or skype interview. Normally I would be able to drive down to NYC from Maine for this but July is going to be a very busy month for me.

Send me a PM if you want any contact details.

Niri Te

You spoke with Ftiafpi yesterday, and he PM'd me last night, and told me about you. Late last night, he PM'd me again, and asked if I would mind speaking with you on the phone. That would be OK, but we would have to set up the conversation a day in advance, you would have to tell me at that exactly when you would call me, and stick to that timetable, as I live in extremely rural far west Texas. (It looks like the old Saturday morning black and white Cowboy movies around here, neighbors are separated by MILES, not feet, and the ONLY cell phone tower for the entire northern half of Hudspeth County, is located thirty miles from here, so I would have to get on the dirt bike and ride to the little hamlet of 200 and something, fifty miles away, and sit at a little Mexican Cafe' waiting for your call. That is one of the few places in this 8,000 square mile County with good cell phone service. PM me here, and let me know what you want to do. I am a beginner, and with my aphasia, I speak it, but it takes me about a minute or so between sentences to assemble the words in my brain to say something. But this is far better than was expected of someone who received seven closed skull fractures causing a deep coma when I was in the Army back in 1970. My aphasia has actually gotten slightly BETTER, since I started learning Na'vi. It is easier for me to speak it than to understand it, especially if you throw in a lot of infixes.
Let me know either way, what you want to do.

I'm carefully want to ask for the current situation of this planned article here? This "language article" has been written?
