Just a note:
A new feature has been added that requires a few questions be answered before a new user can register. It should bust the various spambots that have been creating accounts right through the Captcha verification.

Does this have affects the "already registered" users?

However, great! :D I hope this could reduce activity of those pseudo spammers I saw...

Nope, just new registrations.

Interesting. The spammers have broken captcha. However, I bet they haven't broken all forms of it.

Were those users I made you aware of examples of those pseudo-spammers?

Can this be set up on the Dothraki side as well?

I call "pseudo-spammers" all those users/bots who register, login and write only two or three posts in ramdom topics with completely off-topic stuff or "weird" sentences. Some members got "trolled" by replying such posts as one usually want to inform that new user what he/she did also by a friendly manner, but in truth they usually (I never saw one) will never take any notice that info or reply back.
This happened quite often lastest months.

Also, mostly of their name are similar like their email:
Forum name: abcde
Their email: abcde@whatevereemailservice
Plus, they are mostly from "exotic countries" like Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Afghanistan etc.

OK, so we are indeed talking about the same folks. I suspected these weren't 'normal' users, although some 'real' users from countries like those would be interesting to have in our community.

There is, of course, nothing against those users from those countries, but the bots are using apparently those mentioned countries for creating their accounts.

EDIT:
I took a look at that new registration page, and I must say that it is really awesome created!! ;D SUNEIU!

Absolutely. Verify questions are already built into SMF 2.x. You just need to set them up.

I just hope the questions are not too specific to this site and don't prove to be a problem. I realize that not everyone that visits here will know the answers, but I would hope that if they care enough to create an account, they will know enough about the film to be able to answer the questions correctly. If it ends up being a problem, I can dumb them down a bit, but I don't want to make them so easy that some of the Google-lookup-capable spambots (yes, there are some) can Google the answers too easily.

May a spambot be programed to fill in the blanks (answer the questions) correctly?

The questions are totally ok, I just like them. :D
Seriously, I think, everyone who would like to learn Na'vi will know those answers.

They must learn/programmed to read and undestand the questions. I don't think that the effort to programm that would be worth...

Well, I only fear the human spammers who login only to add advertising or something else in their posts / signatures... (Some months back, I reported alots (~40) of such "advertising accounts" - Toruk ate them :))

What's fun is that we usually get about 5 or 6 accounts created per day that fail the SFS verification and I have to go delete them manually. Since I added this, we've had precisely none. Heh, heh, heh...    ;)
