The LearnNavi server will be unavailable for about 30 minutes at some point between 2:00pm and 4:00pm CST(US) today for cpu and memory addition.  This will bring us up to 12 CPU cores @ 3.1GHz and up to 32GB of ram.

I wasn't able to access to LN forum some minutes ago (it's almost 3pm EST here).

Yep, that was me. Upgrades are complete and we are back to normal, just a bit faster.  ;)

Nice!  That should help the front end during peak loads.   :)

How are the drives for speed?  7.2K? 10K? 15K?

Somehow I remembered it was an AMD based mobo...

The new server is a 1U Tyan S8226 with one Opteron 4234 CPU (with socket for a second), 16GB of DDR3/1333 ECC RAM, Adaptec 6405 RAID controller and 2TB of storage in a RAID1 array. I also put a Seagate 110 BlackArmor NAS on it NFS mounted on a private GigE network for backups.
With the second cpu and 32GB of DDR3, that should make a nice performance increase!

(This also actually answers my above random question about the drives as they are likely SATA rather than SAS drives.)

Right now we have 2TB in a raid 1, 7.2K, SATA II.  Sometime next year those will be upgraded to 2TB SAS 6Gb/s RAID 10. I have to find a Tyan midplane board that can handle the speed, first.
