Can we have another https://learnnavi.org/navi-vocabulary/ update for all the new words?

Also, there is a misspelling at the entry "rurur". It says "water that is aeriated...". Should be "aerated".

The current dictionary is fully up to date. The link to it is on the first page of this thread.

Good catch on 'aeriated'!

I see a link to the PDF dictionary file on page 1, but I don't see a link to https://learnnavi.org/navi-vocabulary/ anywhere on the first page.

Thanks! :)

The link above takes you to a webpage that is part of the master LearnNavi site. If you then click on the dictionary link that is prominently featured there, it takes you to the current version of the dictionary. Due to the way the dictionary is generated, the link always points to the most current version. This dictionary is not only current, but is also canon for the language. That dictionary, or Plumps's annotated dictionary are the only ones you should be using. The wiki dictionary is not usually up to date.

The links on page 1 of this thread are a better place to download the dictionary. Besides the Na'vi-English dictionary, there is a matching (and up to date) English-Na'vi dictionary there. There are also Na'vi dictionaries in several other languages, some of which are maintained, and some not so well maintained.

If you dabble in the Dothraki language at all, the dictionary on dothraki.org works the same way, and is generated by the same software as the Na'vi dictionary. That dictionary is in the process of a long-needed update.

The Original Post (and the primary discussion topic) of this thread is about the Official Na'vi Dictionary, which is the PDF that `Eylan just referenced.

The Vocabulary Page of the LearnNa'vi website must be manually updated. I know it's been a while since I've had a chance to update it (Ngaytxoa! D;) but Tìtstewan has the better way to generate that page content now. It's just that he's so busy. I wonder if I could find a copy of his script and figure it out so I can update that page again. hmm.

I don't know why, but I am always so surprised to hear that so many people continue to use /navi-vocabulary page on our main website. O_O

We need to poke the mobile app scripts to get the new stuff distributed. Zoe, help!  :)  -M.

Just pushed out the updates. I changed some things with the new build of the iOS app, and it requires a manually push for updates right now. I had meant to automate it, but just got crazy busy with a new job.

I'm trying to find the origin of the word Yuesey (USA). The word is credited to Karyu Pawl but I haven't found the source yet. Is it really a PF word or was it invented by the folks of Learn Na'vi? This word can be found in a post from December 29, 2009.

Also, Amerika is a word truly coined by Karyu Pawl.

I remember at some point we made the change in the dictionary from

QuoteYu.E.Sey

to

QuoteYuesey

because it just looks so much nicer (and it's literally how to pronounce "USA"). I do want to say that "Yu.E.Sey" can probably be traced back to Prrton in the earliest of days. I'll dig.

uolì'uvi (n., U.o.lì'.u.vi) 'suffix'

Missing since Oct 2017 from http://naviteri.org/2017/10/more-language-for-talking-about-language/

All vocab from that post made it in, except uolì'uvi

Also, I suggest the following edit/add:

\derive { eolì'uvi } { \textprimstress E.o.lI.Pu.vi } { n. } { prefix } { eo-- } { before } { lì'uvi } { affix } { PF } { } [ ]

\derive { uolì'uvi } { \textprimstress u.o.lI.Pu.vi } { n. } { suffix } { uo-- } { after } { lì'uvi } { affix } { PF } { } [ ]
