What do the stars next to our names when we post mean? There number & color. I asked s.o. w lots of stars, and he has no idea. Perhaps that could be explained in an intro somewhere, if it isn't already?

I'm pretty sure this has been covered three hundred and twenty seven million times with roughly that amount of posts, there should be an explanation somewhere or something by now :/

It just means rank, in general, more posts = more stars.
Different coloured stars denote higher levels of authority, such as green for moderators.

Software Dev - x86 Assembly / native C - 10 years.

Ranks like tawtute & tute reflect raw number of posts: 100+, 200+, etc. I have 366 posts; 34 more, and I will "graduate" from tute to Omatikaya. But the number of stars does not correspond all that well to the ranks. If you check out the list of users, sorted by number of posts, they follow rank order (with some exceptions which I assume are special cases) but not number of stars. Certainly higher ranks tend to have more stars, but it isn't all that good a correlation.

Thanks. I could've swore I've seen people with more edits but fewer stars than others. Maybe it was the 5 stars of mods w even mod numbers of posts that threw me.
