Hey, is anybody else having this problem?  I'm cruising around on the forum, and all of a sudden clicking on a thread gives me a white screen of death—as in, an empty screen where the website generally would be.  I'm inclined to blame it on Safari, since i was using someone else's Mac this weekend and he's running GoogleChrome, which seemed not to have this issue.  Just wondering if i'm the only one.

That's the same problem I had a few days back and I think very much so that the problem lies with Safari (I was using it at the time) With Firefox I haven't had that problem since.

Next time you get it, try viewing the page source, see if anything is actually present (in which case your browser didn't render it) or if nothing is being received.

Just tried it.  When i get the death-screen, viewing the source code returns an empty box.

lolol the white screen of death ;D

I suppose you have tried refreshing and that didn't work? only other option I'd think of is, as Kamean said, to change your browser. it seems to me that Safari is the problem.

That is not a very good answer.  The problem has only started to appear in the last few days, and is always transient.  Unless there has been a recent update to the forum software (there has been no Safari update in the last week), something else is going on.

... not a very good answer? it's a fine answer; Kamean referenced that Safari has done that to him/her, so I figured it very well could be the web browser. that's kind of rude of you to tell me I didn't provide a 'very good' answer.

He means it's treating the symptom, rather than the underlying illness, if you will.  And i agree:  I've always used Safari, and never had a problem until recently.  So, saying "Safari's the problem" only gets at part of the issue.  Yes, something is going wrong lately when Safari tries to talk to this forum, but it's not clear what's causing that.

and you can't always find the underlying cause of something; so, if you want to fix it, you've got to do what you can.

Yes, I've also encountered that problem and was wondering what the matter was! :o I'm using Safari as well, but you guys say there might be a deeper explanation than that? Hmm.

Well, I wasn't aiming to be impolite.  I should have edited the part of your post I was responding to more closely.  It definitely does seem like something is confusing Safari, but "change your browser" isn't going to help us locate and fix the problem.

Neyn'ite Te Tsahìk Txeptsyìp'ite

if the problem is Safari, then you're right, you can find the underlying cause. but, if you can't, all I'm saying is that you can change your browser so you won't have to deal with it. :-\

Yes, I've been experiencing this as well. In fact it just happened a few minutes ago. I have also always used Safari and this hasn't happened until just recently. Safari is my preferred browser, it's what I'm accustomed to. Perhaps Markì could talk to Apple about this?

Do you think this could give any results? :o I'm not too sure it would, but I guess giving it a shot can't hurt. :)

Sure, but Kì'eyawn and I are both mods.  We feel a little sting of obligation to at least try to discover the underlying problem. :)

wm.annis

I've sent Markì clues for that might provide a good place to start looking (a time and a page where the problem occurred).  Maybe logs will provide some clue.

What's so odd, is that the problem is always transient.  It goes away if I wait a few moments.

I'm not even a mod and i'd like to find the underlying cause.

I know right? And it never happens on my iPhone's Safari browser.
