Kaltxì frapo-yä,

Oe have spent this past entire week with my face buried in Na'vi text, learning about ergatives, accusatives, datives, possession etc. This past week has been a blur. I live in a suburb where the majority of the population is ill-mannered, uneducated or just illiterate. If you take public transport, you can see the utter disrespect people have for each other, the Transport Guards and the facilities. These are given to us to use at our disposal (for a small fee) and others feel the need to destroy them. Society is corrupt and I'm sick of it. I'm tired of sitting in the yard during Recess and Lunches, I'm tired of being insulted by others who don't even know me. If people could understand how we got here, how we progressed as a species and what we're made of, maybe they'd appreciate life more.

I was sitting at Cannington station, reading my book "Bringing Down the House". My attention was then directed to a teenager, no more than 16 years old, verbally abusing a student. I assumed they were pupils but what this "Derro" teenager was saying, shocked me the most. He was cursing, using obscene language towards this boy. From what I can gather from observing the confrontation, the "victim" had done nothing wrong - he was simply different to the person abusing him. Jesus Christ, if humanity rages with war against itself simply because one is different to another, we will never progress. If we are wanting to cease poverty, hunger and Climate Change, society needs to get over this pointless sh*t. If we want to help humanity as a whole, we need to set aside racism and the fact that we're different. Despite the fact that we may have different religious beliefs, skin colour or views, we are all binded by blood.

I hate modern society and everything within it, I have spent the past week in the library in self isolation reading, dreaming and counting cards; all because I didn't want to be a part of what I hate. I mean, even when I tell my friends that I'm learning a new language, regardless the fact that it's fictitious, the laugh at me, they think I'm a "loser". Hopefully, they're only joking.

I really want this tribe dream to become a reality, so that life can have some sort of meaning or purpose. I just want to let you know that I am here, just like everyone else, I am as just as committed to this project as all of you. Please, don't lose the drive, the passion, because without it, we have nothing.
I'm glad to be back, back where I belong..

Good to see someone with your energy and passion. If I can be allowed a little advice, try not to focus on what you can see is wrong, knowing it is so you can then move on and begin to make changes. And don't feel you have to distance yourself from those with different views, nothing wrong with having friends you disagree with, it's healthy.

Like 'Eylan said, it is good to see someone with drive and passion for a good cause. However, there are some points Oe have to make.

You say you hate modern society... does this mean you'd prefer the middle ages mentality, where women were treating like objects, peasants were treated like dirt, and lords and nobles could do anything they wanted with no consequences? Or how about a bit more recent, where blacks were treated like mules, women were supposed to live in the kitchen, and corruption ran through the Catholic Church like water runs through a river? And no matter what time you go to, slavery is everywhere.

Like I said before, I respect your values and I'm not trying to discourage you, but I think you're a bit out of perspective. The world we live in today is crappy. But it is nothing like the world back then. Women have equal rights with men, slavery is outlawed in most of the world (though obviously people have gotten around it), and racism is at an all-time low (again, it obviously still happens. However, for the most part, people are tolerant of all races).

Unfortunately, there is no way to fix such issues as racism. We can all hope and dream, but what can we really do? The people that participate in that have been raised on a certain philosophy, and not much can change something learned when very young.

No, I hate what modern society has become ie. violence, hatrid, racism, vandilism etc. I would not live in a single race scoiety, nearly all of my friends I have are here a result of multi-culturalism. I laothe anyone whom is racist, or anyone who makes racist jokes and I rightly tell them so. I am not wanting to change modern days back to last century, where women were thought to be possessions instead of people of equal rights to men. Human rights are fantastic in modern society, but I was actually making reference to the corruptiveness and fallacy of today's world, which exists as a result of greed and utter disrespect for the facilities people have supplied to them. I am not sure about America, but I feel that the "derros", whom are people that smoke, drink, use drugs, graffitti etc are very common in Western Australia, you can see evidence of it on the train line. And like Pandora, we have the relationship between Caucasians and the Indigenous Australians, depending on your location, can be quite terrible. I am not saying that all of them are like that, in fact, I have many very literate Indigenous friends who respect us and we respect.

I am not singling the Indigenous out, they have as much right and respect as we do, unfortunately, some of them aren't very appreciative of the right they have been give and often, in our suburb, abuse drugs, money, language and alcohol. I am not wanting to live the way we did, 50 years ago, but as a person whom cares for the health of humanity and wants to make others to see as well. Our planet is dying, that's fact. The damage as a result of our actions over the past 50 years is inevitable, the PPM will rise at a rate that is unavoidable. I want others to see alternatives to the use of technology, to realise that it is possible to live an everyday life without abusing technology.

Thankyou all for the feedback but I feel that you have misread, I do not hate modern society, the living conditions are much better than they were but because I hate it because of what it has become as a result of an uneven distribution of wealth.

Thankyou,  :-[

Yeah, I did misread somewhat. I thought that by "hating modern society" you meant that you desired the past.

I see what you mean a lot better, and I agree with you for the most part.

In America, it's sad to see that with the black community, that only several generations ago, they were fighting for freedom within America, and now it seems more black people say the N word than the whites. I can imagine all of the people who suffered through slavery turning in their graves at what their descendants have done with their freedom. I'm not trying to single them out, but it's a perfect example for how stupid today's culture is.

In a more general sense, I counted about 40 f bombs in my school in one day alone. My parents have always said that you can see the degrading of a culture in the degrading of the language.

I recommend the book Blink to you. It has a large section about subconscious and/or unintentional racism, which is pretty interesting.

However, I have always believed that the majority of what you would classify a 'racist joke' were not founded on the hate for a race, but simply made to poke fun at the stereotype of a race, not the actual people themselves.

Lastly, my thoughts on 'political correctness'. I find that it is utter nonsense to censor or change what is said to try and please everyone. You won't succeed, because no matter what, someone will be offended by whatever you say. Just say what you mean, because if anyone has a problem with it, it's their problem, not yours. (I'm not condoning people who say things to offend people, simply stating that people should stop overreacting to things that really shouldn't be offending) Kinda like this: PJTV's Andrew Klavan: Political Correctness Kills
