When I went here: http://forum.learnnavi.org/general-avatar-discussion/so-where-do-they-all-link-up/, a file started being downloaded suddenly. The name was "transferir.gz" (tranferir is a portuguese word for "download" or "transfer"). I cancelled the download, but what is that?

Nothing on the site. Depending on what browser you use, this can happen. Also, read this: http://forum.learnnavi.org/website-info/learnnavi-requesting-me-download-application/

Also, I recommend a virus scan.

I have never had problems with Chrome. I don't understand, maybe Chrome loves me.   8)
Perhaps Chrome doesn't love you after all. :P

It has just done it again (when I quoted Payoang's post, it started the download).

The file is attached to my post... I scanned the files for virus and it has none. Also, the computer has no virus.

Wow, that's a strange file. It has the uncompressed headers of our server, and then contains the gzipped output of the quote/post page.

Try this. getfirefox.com

I've been told it happens because of some bug in the forum and when the request for the page is incomplete, usually a file is downloaded.

Well, I do know that our server is set to compress http replies using .gz compression when possible. It helps to reduce bandwidth and loads the pages faster. The only thing I can think of is that your browser is somehow having troubling with the inline decompression while trying to display the pages.

Nothing here either using FF 3.6.15.

I also spent some time surfing with Chrome earlier. No issues with it either.
